The story of Mattie Stepanek is one of the saddest stories we’ve ever run into. The poor boy suffered from a rare type of muscular dystrophy that had already taken the lives of his three siblings. When Oprah interviewed the young boy, she asked him what he wanted for Christmas, and the humbled boy replied ‘If it’s not too much trouble, pray for me.’ The interview took place in 2001 and in 2004 his condition got worse and sadly he passed away in June of 2004. The young boy made a huge impact on everyone and especially on Oprah who said: ‘From the moment I met Mattie Stepanek, I knew it was my privilege that this courageous little boy had drifted into my life.’
