Even before her wedding, Katherine had already begun experiencing unusual symptoms. In July 2017 she starting feeling the need to use the bathroom more often, and noticed she had blood in her urine.
By October she was feeling worse and decided she needed to see a doctor. However, the doctor dismissed her concerns, and believed she merely had a UTI, since that shared similar symptoms. Katherine was prescribed a strong dose of antibiotics and sent on her way.
