The most important thing is to stay calm and not panic, because it’s very unusual for coyotes to attack humans. Do not turn your back and run, and try to maintain eye contact until the coyote leaves on its own. If it doesn’t seem to be leaving, be assertive, make noises, and try to scare it away.
