In August 2017 the family made a breakthrough. They searched Valentina Suman on Facebook and found a lead. She was still living in Moldova. She was in her thirties. She looked like she belonged in the Lastur family. Her hair was darker and her eyes were were the same color as the rest of the family’s eyes. They messaged Valentina and explained their search for answers. They asked her to verify her date and place of birth. Valentine complied.
