Many have argued that the late Heath Ledger’s role as The Joker was one of the most inspirational and memorable of all time. In fact, Heath was the one to design The Joker’s makeup and even locked himself in a hotel room for six weeks to get into the role.

However, the actor was once hoping to play a very different lead in the movie. Before Heath was cast as the villain, the actor wanted to play the part of Batman himself. Instead, Heath starred opposite Christian Bale in the movie.
