It seems that Elizabeth Montgomery almost didn’t play Samantha at all; producers actually wanted actress Tammy Grimes to play the leading role of Samantha Stephens. However, Tammy did not like the storyline of the magical show and decided to decline and accept a role on Broadway instead. Lucky for us! Elizabeth Montgomery was the next offer and she accepted, making everyone to ever watch Bewitched glad. We couldn’t imagine another Samantha other than Elizabeth – despite the fact that both actresses look very much alike.
