These plans included the so-called Hall of Records, which was to be constructed behind the head of Abraham Lincoln and hidden from those who would view the monument from below. The idea behind this Hall of Records was to allow America a safe place to store its impressive history. From old artifacts to ancient documents, the secret chamber was supposed to be their final resting place.
