It’s no secret that Kit Culkin used his son to make money and was the reason he worked so much when he was young. By the early 90s, when Macaulay was at the height of his young fame, he asked his father, who was also his manager, for time off to rest. Kit said, sure, but it never happened. That’s when Macaulay realized he was being exploited. About the time he asked his dad for time off, “He said, ‘Yeah, sure,’ and the next thing I knew I was on the next set doing the next thing, and it just kind of clicked in my brain: ‘Okay. There’s basically nothing I can do to make this stop.’”
