Although his substance abuse issues had nearly destroyed his career, sobering up had turned everything around in Johnson’s favor. Starring in ‘Miami Vice’ transformed him into the icon he is today, and it assured his fans that he wasn’t going anywhere.
Unfortunately, appearing in the TV show came with its share of issues. The biggest of these was the fact that the program was filmed in Florida, meaning Don had to try and make his relationship work long-distance. This ended up being the nail in the coffin that finished them for good.
