Sadly, Betty couldn’t stay with us forever. In August 2014, less than a year after she’d start posting to Instagram, the octogenarian succumbed to her illness. The loss devastated her family, but they were incredibly grateful for the experiences they got to share thanks to her newfound fame. The news was broken on Instagram when Zach uploaded a photo of Betty’s beloved dog sitting alone on her rocking chair. Naturally, the touching photo and caption brought a tear to her followers’ eyes.
