In the Chamber of Secrets, the second installment of the series, Harry and the gang meet Moaning Myrtle, the ghost who “haunts” the girls bathroom on the second floor. They later find out that the nature of her death was at the hand of a basilisk, the monster within the Chamber of Secrets itself.
Myrtle has a bit of a gloomy personality most of time, which is why the girl here painted a tear on her face, and hosts a less than positive expression.
