In fact, resident actress, Sally Field is just ten years older than Tom Hanks! Playing his mother in the film was all thanks to a great makeup department and the fact that Mrs. Gump didn’t live to be too old.
The film spans Forrest’s life from childhood to his mid-30s, in the beginning, we see Sally Field as she is but over the course of the film her hair gets grayer and her face more worn.
