After she appeared in several episodes of the show, Strong decided to focus her career on playing on television. After appearing in Ally Mcbeal, Gilmore Girls and Dawson’s Creek, she landed a lead role in the successful TV series Desperate Housewives, playing the role of the deceased narrator Mary Alice Young, which soon propelled Strong’s career to worldwide fame. The show lasted for 8 seasons, won the Screen Actors’ Guild award for a comedy series and broke a record for being the longest-running TV show to feature lead female characters.
