This show is actually based on a real branch within the Navy, called the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. These officers deal in Naval criminality and find themselves taking on cases that include counter-intelligence, counter-terrorism, cyber warfare and more. Many of those who work in NCIS are civilian recruits, rather than Naval recruits. Where do we sign up?
