It’s not uncommon for people to change their religious views upon meeting someone new, and Tom Hanks was no different. Before marrying Wilson, he decided to become a member of the Greek Orthodox Church. Rita had grown up in a family devoted to the religion, and as such, she’d become a firm believer in their views. When the prospect of marriage was on the table, Rita wanted her husband to be a firm part of her religious life, as well as her personal one. Luckily for her, Hanks agreed.
