The pair had a one-year relationship, but things came to an abrupt end when James Orr was arrested for beating Farrah during an argument in 1998. Orr was later convicted of misdemeanor battery, but the judge noted that Farrah had actually started the fight (and the violence) so the filmmaker was given the minimum sentence.
