Waylon Jennings was married three times before he met a recently divorced struggling songwriting mother named Miriam Johnson. Johnson and Jennings got married a year after she divorced her first husband, and with Jennings, changed her name to Jessi Colter – the name of her great grandfather.

The two went on to have a baby boy named Waylon Albright Jennings. Overall, Waylon was the father, adopted father or stepfather to seven children.
