[post_page_title]The Mummy 2 – What have they done to you, Dwayne?[/post_page_title]
This is perhaps the quintessential example of CGI that looked really awesome at the time, but today looks kind of weird and rubbery. To be fair, The Mummy franchise was plagued by some goofy looking CGI, from poor mummified souls in the first movie to the digital armies of the third and last one. However, we’d like to focus on number two – The Mummy Returns.

The Mummy 2 – What have they done to you, Dwayne?

“Number two” is a pretty apt description, as the decision to render the Scorpion King, played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, was amazing in 2001. Time, however, has not been kind to this special effects creation, with The Rock’s face in particular looking not only fake but also worryingly like it’s made of melted plastic.
