[post_page_title]Mortal Engines – loss of $174.8 million[/post_page_title]
No one expected that a fantasy franchise backed by Peter Jackson could flop – after all, he’s the powerful name that turned the Lord of the Rings films into the success that they are today. However, “Mortal Engines,” a movie that he produced and co-wrote, didn’t have the same luck.

Mortal Engines – loss of $174.8 million

Maybe it’s because the Philip Reeve’s book series that it’s based on is not that popular in the US. Perhaps it’s the difficult concept of predator cities that roam around the planet, inhaling smaller cities for their resources. Or maybe it’s because it lacked any famous actors. The only certainty here is that “Mortal Engines” was one of the biggest box office disappointments of 2018.
