Mansfield University of Pennsylvania was named after the town it is located in – Mansfield, Pennsylvania. The university is a public liberal arts university. It is one of 14 state universities in the state on Pennsylvania. Over the course of the last decade, the university has had a decrease of 15.05% in applications to the school. The university was founded as a seminary in 1857 only to burn down to the ground a few months later. It was rebuilt in 1859 when the college had 30 students enrolled.
