Just before he had lost consciousness, Tom’s wife Maggie, a retired nurse, looked over at her husband and immediately saw something wasn’t right. Tom had suddenly fallen ill, describing himself as feeling “clammy and lightheaded” – never a good sign, especially on board an airplane. Then, he lost consciousness.
