Do you ever find yourself with so many thoughts you don’t know what the heck to do with them? Do you ever find yourself wanting to vent about a particular moment in your day? Do you ever just want to sit down at your laptop and let everything flow out of you? Well, it sounds like you’re already on your way to becoming a successful writer and blogger (result, right?).The word ‘blogger’ is thrown around a lot nowadays because the world really does revolve around the intricate and exciting blogging interweb. But how do you create your own blog? Follow these easy steps, and soon you’ll be wondering why you never started one earlier…

Choose a blogging platform

Long gone are the days of pen and paper, and sending notes via carrier pigeon – because this would be pretty messy. Now, everything is online, which means you need to choose a blogging platform where you want to create your blog. There are numerous blogging platforms available to people all across the world; including WordPress, Tumblr, BlogSmith, Scoop, Blogger, Gawker and more. Any of these blogging platforms will prove beneficial for your first dip into the waters of blogging, but there is one platform that is more prestigious than the rest. Yep, we’re talking about WordPress. WordPress currently has over a whopping 82 million users across the world, so it’s kind of a big deal. Alongside this, the site has various tips and tricks for newbies, which makes the whole process even easier.

Choose a name

Creating a blog is pretty easy, but one of the hardest decisions you’ll ever make regarding your blog is the name. With a heck load of ideas to choose from, narrowing your blog down to a few simple words is pretty stressful, considering they will define your whole blogger experience and your memorability. Luckily, there are ways to narrow down your choices. Some of the most successful bloggers out there have simply used their names or used a good ol’ pun to create their blog name. Others have used memories or just a few play-on-words that sum up their personality. The choice really is yours, but make sure it hasn’t been used before, and it’s something completely unique. Good luck!

Choose your subject

Your blog is the place for you to truly let go and let out all of your thoughts – so go for it. However, if you want your blog to be successful, you may want to choose a blog subject. Some of the most famous bloggers out there in the blog-o-verse have built their empires on their talents and their passions – whether that is fashion, food, beauty or travel. If you have a passion and want to share that with other people, we’d suggest building a blog around that one niche to make it coherent and cohesive, and also attract the right audience. Of course, a blog doesn’t aim to limit you, so you can really write about anything and hope someone else wants to read it (although we’re sure they will).

Design your blog theme

In our opinion, there’s nothing worse than reading a newspaper. Why read a few boring pieces of paper that are simply printed in black and white when you can read it in technicolor on the internet? This is something you really need to think about when creating your blog – will someone want to read what you have to say if it’s just sitting there in black and white? Answer: nope. Luckily, WordPress and other blogging platforms allow their users to create themes and visuals on their blog to make it stand out from the rest. You can design yourself a logo, you can create an epic layout for your writing, and you can even add in hundreds of pictures of your cats if you want (if that’s your thing). The blogging world really is your oyster.
Creating your blog needn’t be a difficult task. In fact, it’s pretty darn easy once you get the hang of it! So, what are you waiting for? Set up your blog and enter the wonderful blogosphere. You might even make some new friends along the way!
