At the time, Beyoncé’s husband had only just been made the president of Def Jam Recordings. He wasn’t sure about signing Rihanna, afraid she didn’t have the talent to make it, but he changed his mind after seeing her perform live.
Soon enough, she was signing on the dotted line and bagging herself a six-album deal with the rapper. Now, all she had to do was prove she was worth the risk. Luckily, her first two albums were both top ten hits on the Billboard 200, peaking at ten and five respectively.
