While doing some shopping, this person noticed a stranger and innocently smiled at the guy. Instead of that being the end of their interaction, the guy followed this shopper around the corner after looking at them weirdly.
They thought he might have been trying to figure out who they were, but didn’t want to take any chances and hang around to find out. Even just smiling at a stranger and showing some basic human kindness can backfire if you smile at the wrong person it seems.
