Sonny and Cher began as a folk rock singing duo in the mid-1960s. They rose to mega fame after their single, I Got You Babe, reached the number one spot on both American and British charts.
After the two were slightly disillusioned with the level their musical career was going, they decided to venture into television, starring in their very own television show called The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour, which was also a huge success.
