According to Katie Couric, former co-host Matt Lauer once joked that moths would come flying out if she ever opened her wallet. The beloved talk show host admits that she’s frugal to a fault, due to her parents who grew up during the Great Depression.
Although she’s reported to have earned $15 million a year while at CBS, her main indulgence was bargain hunting at clearance sales. However, she’s extremely generous with charities, and regularly donates to organizations like the American Cancer Society.
