Family Ties was a hit sitcom that aired from 1982 until 1989. The show centers around the Keaton family, who lives in Columbus, Ohio, headed by Steven and Elyse Keaton and their four children. In addition to echoing the change occurring in America at the time, the show introduced us to many stars before they became famous, like Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Courtney Cox. So what happened to Family Ties’ talented and beautiful women? And where are they today?
Martha Plimpton as Jessie Blake
We are introduced to Jessie Blake when Mallory catches her stealing at the boutique where she works. Instead of calling the police, Mallory feels bad for Jessie and invites her to go out for dinner.
The two begin to develop a friendship, however, when Jessie shows up at the store for the second time, she steals again, leading Mallory to conclude she needs more help than she can offer her. Jessie was played by then-budding actress Martha Plimpton.

Martha Plimpton has had a long a varied acting career as she has appeared on television, films and on stage. She got her start in show business in the 1980s as a model for a Calvin Klein campaign.
In addition to her movie career, Plimpton has appeared in many shows such as The Good Wife, Raising Hope and The Real O’Neals, as well as the dating the late, great River Phoenix, with whom she starred in the films The Mosquito Coast and Running on Empty.
Jami Gertz as Jocelyn Clark
Jocelyn Clark is Alex’s love interest in one episode where he becomes the chairman of the senior prom committee. He asks Jocelyn to the dance but she is already going with someone.
Alex is upset and he asks Rachel Miller who likes him more than he likes her. Eventually, Jocelyn’s boyfriend cancels their date to prom and she asks Alex to go with him. This leads Alex to come up with an elaborate plan to entertain both girls at the dance.

You have likely heard of Jami Gertz as in addition to being a well-known actress, she is one of the richest women in the world.
She and her businessman husband, Tony Ressler were members of a successful investment groups that purchased a Major League Baseball team. They are worth an estimated $1.72 billion. However, her high net worth has not stopped Gertz from acting and she has appeared in shows such as Modern Family and This Is Us.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Susan
In a two-part special on Family Ties, Julia Louis-Dreyfus plays a lawyer. The rest of the episode focuses on Jennifer wanting to do a book report on a book that is banned.
Louis-Dreyfus was also featured on a Family Ties spin-off, The Art of Being Nick, which focused on Mallory’s boyfriend Nick, living in the East Village and working at a bookstore. Although Nick was a popular character on Family Ties, none of the three spin-off shows about him became a hit.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus now
Everyone knows Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Elaine from Seinfeld, which is a role she landed shortly after she appeared on Family Ties.
Seinfeld launched Louis-Dreyfus’ career and she went onto star in The New Adventures of Old Christine and Veep, which she also produces, and which earned her six consecutive Emmys. In 2017, the actress announced that she was diagnosed with cancer but that she was surrounded by support, and luckily she was declared cancer free by 2019.
Tracy Pollan as Ellen Reed
Before Courteney Cox played Alex’s feminist girlfriend, Tracy Pollan played one of his earlier love interests who also happened to be a feminist.
Ellen was also an artist and an activist who attended anti-nuclear demonstrations. Alex expressed how different the two were when he told Ellen he loved her. Tracy Pollan wasn’t only sought after on-screen as she was quite the sought after woman at the time and she was dating another popular 80’s actor Kevin Bacon.

It seems that Michael J. Fox (who played Alex) and Tracy Pollan must have had some chemistry on and off the screen since the actors ended up tying the knot and they are still together to this day.
The two reconnected on the set of Bright Lights, Big City in 1998 and they got married the same year. While Pollan hasn’t done too much acting since the 1990’s, she did appear on The Michael J. Fox Show and on Fox’s other show, Spin City.
Christina Applegate as Kitten
Right before Christina Applegate landed her breakout role as Kelly Bundy on Married… with Children, she made a brief appearance as a member of Jennifer’s band on Family Ties.
Alex wants to have a polka band perform at the school’s homecoming dance but he reluctantly allows Jennifer’s band, The Permanent Waves, to audition for the gig. After Jennifer’s band becomes popular, Alex tells them that if they let him manage the band, they will be successful.

While Christina Applegate began acting when she was just three months old on the soap opera Days of Our Lives, she got her breakout role in 1987 on Married… with Children.
Applegate went onto become a well-known movie star and she appeared in films like Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and Hall Pass. Applegate has been married twice and she is currently married to bassist Martyn LeNoble, with whom she has one child.
Judith Light as Stacey Hughes
Judith Light appears in season 2 as Stacey Hughes who is a production assistant at Steven Keaton’s television station, WKS.
Stacey always agrees with Steven’s ideas but what Steven does not know is that Stacey has fallen for him and attempts to seduce him. Without realizing it, Steven changes the way he dresses to attract Stacey and her advances intensify, though Steven remains faithful to his wife. Post-Family Ties, which was one of Light’s first acting appearances, Light went on to appear in a number of shows.
Judith Light now
Before Judith Light became a television actress, she appeared in a number of productions on stage and she was also a series regular on the soap opera One Life to Live.
After her appearance on Family Ties, Light went onto appear on television shows such as Law & Order, and Ugly Betty as well as appearing in a number of television movies. She is best-know for her role as Angela Bower in the ’80s ABC sitcom Who’s the Boss? and as Shelly Pfefferman in the show Transparent.
Priscilla Morrill as Kate
Kate is Elyse’s mother who appears in two episodes over the course of the series. In one episodes, on Thanksgiving, Steven and Elyse are getting ready to go to a demonstration against nuclear arms and Elyse’s father scoffs at this idea.
Later on in the episode, Steven and Elyse are arrested and Kate stands up for them while Elyse’s father does not. The family eventually arrives at the jail where Steven and Elyse are being held, bringing their Thanksgiving dinner with them.
Priscilla Morrill – deceased
Priscilla Morrill was an actress throughout the 1960s until the 1980s best-known for her role as Lou Grant’s wife on The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
Morrill got her start on Broadway in The Relapse and she went on to make many television appearances. She appeared on shows such as Santa Barbara, Newhart and Coach. Her last appearance was on the 1990s hit Blossom as Mrs. Whiting. The actress passed away in 1994 at the age of 67.
Christine Belford as Victoria Hurstenberg
Steven’s television station WKS has an auction in order to raise money and Nick (Mallory’s boyfriend) puts some of his art pieces in the auction.
Victoria Hurstenberg is an older, wealthy woman who takes an interest in Nick’s artwork and Mallory becomes suspicious about what her real motive is. Mallory shows up at the auction to find out what is really happening between Victoria and Nick. Victoria was played by actress, Christine Belford who was popular in the 1970’s.

After working as a model and waitress in New York City, Christine Belford moved to Los Angeles where she began auditioning for Universal Pictures.
Christine had a number of small appearances on shows throughout the 1970’s, 80’s and 90’s. She was featured on shows such as Barnaby Jones, The Six Million Dollar Man and Magnum, P.I. Belford’s last acting appearance was in the TV movie Ruffian and she has stayed out of the spotlight since.
Meredith Baxter as Elyse Keaton
Elyse Keaton was one of the coolest mothers on television in her day. Elyse was a product of the baby-boomer generation and her and husband Steven were both former hippies.
Elyse was commonly the voice of reason in her family and encouraged her kids to be kind, such as the time when she asked them to make meaningful Christmas gifts for each other instead of buying impersonal presents. With her steadfast idealism and nurturing attitude, she made motherhood and working as a self-employed architect look easy, or at least manageable.

Before Family Ties, Meredith Baxter got her big break on the small-screen with the show Bridget Loves Bernie. It was on this show that Baxter met her second real life husband, David Birney.
Following her time on Family Ties, Baxter has appeared in a number of TV movies such as Angel in the Family and Naughty or Nice. Baxter revealed on the Today Show that she is attracted to women and after being married to three men, she married Nancy Locke in 2013.
Jane Adams as Marty Brodie
When Alex’s girlfriend Lauren (played by Courteney Cox) goes out of town for a psychology conference for a couple weeks, Alex becomes attracted to an awkward student that he is tutoring in economics.
Although Lauren is returning home soon, Alex struggles with his feelings toward Marty and when Lauren returns, Alex tells her about how he feels about Marty. Lauren spills food on Alex before the couple eventually resolve their issues.

Jane Adams is an actress and a graduate of the Juilliard School’s drama program. She was a Broadway actress who made her debut in 1991 in the production of I Hate Hamlet.
She also won a Tony Award for her role in An Inspector Calls. In addition to her brief role on Family Ties, Adams had recurring television roles on shows such as Frasier and the HBO series Hung. In 2017, the actress appeared in a number of episodes of the shows Twin Peaks and Claws.
Melinda Culea as Rebecca
When Alex gets a job as an intern at a bank, he is introduced to his female boss, Rebecca (played by Melinda Culea). While Alex tells his family members that he has no problem with having a female boss, he is unintentionally patronizing to her.
Rebecca takes Alex to task and once Alex begins to follow her orders, Alex thinks that there may be romantic attraction between them. However, instead of dating, the two share their love of money.

Melinda Culea is a model turned actress who was active in show business throughout the 80’s and 90’s.
Culea is best-known for her role as Amy Amanda Allen in the hit 80’s show The A-Team in addition to her smaller roles on shows such as Fantasy Island and Star Trek: The Next Generation. Culea has not acted since 1999 and as of 2016, she working as an artist and author. She also released her first novel called Wondago.
Geena Davis as Karen Nicholson
As Elyse ears her due date with her youngest child, the Keaton family is in need of some extra help around the house.
Alex interviews Karen Nicholson to be a housekeeper, and although she is incompetent, he hires her based on her appearance. Karen has a bunch of mishaps while working for the Keatons, for example, she doesn’t know how to do laundry and she burns shirts while ironing them. Karen appears in 3 episodes before she leaves the Keaton’s home.
Geena Davis now
Geena Davis is most recognizable from her roles in The Fly, Beetlejuice and Stuart Little. The 64 year-old is a highly acclaimed actress and she won an Academy Award for her role in the film The accidental Tourist.
In addition to her film work, Davis has appeared in a number of television shows including The Geena Davis Show and The Exorcist. Davis has been married to a number of men including fellow actor Jeff Goldblum but she is now married to Reza Jaharry and she has 3 children with him.
Tina Yothers as Jennifer Keaton
Tina Yothers was just nine years old when she landed the role of Jennifer Keaton on Family Ties. The audience gets to watch Jennifer grow up over the seasons and watch her turn into a beautiful and talented young woman.
Jennifer was a tomboy with an outgoing personality who was often friends with boys (some of whom ended up hitting on her sister). Jennifer was also a talented musician who had her own band, which was popular amongst her peers, and she even performed at Alex’s prom.

Tina Yothers began her acting career at the age of three and she had roles in a number of television movies after Family Ties ended.
Yothers’ acting career slowed down in the late ’90s and the last project she appeared in was the reality show, What Not to Wear in 2013 where her wardrobe got revamped. Yothers tied the knot with electrician, Robert Kaiser in 2002 and they had two children together in addition to Kaiser’s child from a previous relationship. They family now resides in Ontario, California.
Suzanne Snyder as Tricia Armstrong
We first meet Tricia Armstrong, played by Suzanne Snyder, at the beginning of Season 4 in The Real Thing: Part 1. Alex is looking for a girlfriend in his sophomore year and stumbles upon Tricia in the freshman directory.
She seems to be everything he wants in a girlfriend, but there’s a catch. Tricia’s roommate, Ellen. Alex quickly finds Tricia boring and in The Real Thing: Part 2, it all comes to a rather terrible end when he kisses Ellen and drives to the train station to stop her from leaving.
Suzanne Snyder now
Suzanne Snyder was already a fairly well-known name, thanks to her role as Deb in Weird Science which came out the same year as her role in Family Ties.
Suzanne quickly became known for her parts in weird and wonderful movies, such as Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988) and Return of the Living Dead II (again in 1988). Things have slowed down a lot for Snyder recently, with her last movie role being in 2013 as Pia in Dancing on a Dry Salt Lake. However, she still attends events for fans of some of her cult movie roles today.
Tracy Nelson as Deena Marx
We first meet Tracy Nelson as Deena Marx during Season 2, in the episode Ladies’ Man. Alex is trying to impress Deena by pretending to be a feminist and supporting the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA).
When Deena asks if Alex does support ERA he retorts with, “Deena, you say ERA, and I say Y-E-S.” The pair ends up in jail, with the whole ERA group singing We Shall Not Be Moved. Tracy Nelson also appears as Deena Marx again in Episode 14 of Season 3 but is uncredited.

Family Ties wasn’t the first TV series Tracy Nelson had been involved with, having starred in Square Pegs between 1982 and 1983.
In fact, her first acting role actually came when she was just five years old, playing alongside Henry Fonda in Yours, Mine, and Ours. She then went on to star in various other big-name TV shows, including The Love Boat, Glitter, Father Dowling’s Mysteries, A League of Their Own, and Melrose Place. Tracy Nelson has also battled three types of cancer over her lifetime and is a big advocate of several cancer research groups.
Julie Cobb as Maureen Keaton
We first hear about Julie Cobb’s character, Maureen Keaton, in Season 3, Episode 23 (Remembrances of Things Past). Maureen is the wife of Robert (Steven’s brother), making her the aunt of Alex, Mallory, and Jennifer.
However, we don’t actually see Maureen until Season 5, where she appears in O’Brother Part 1 and 2. Unfortunately, it’s not all good news for Aunt Maureen… As Rob wants a divorce. We last hear of Maureen and the divorce being finalized in the episode Father Time.
Julie Cobb now
Julie Cobb was born into a theatrical family, so it came as no surprise when she chose acting as her career path. Before her appearance in Family Ties, this actress already had dozens of acting credits to her name, including appearing in shows such as Star Trek, The Waltons, Little House on the Prairie, and The Incredible Hulk!
Julie grew from strength to strength after her role in Family Ties, securing recurring roles in Magnum P.I., Growing Pains, and Whatta Lark in 2017.
Sonia Curtis as Amy Sussman
Sonia Curtis first enters the Family Ties world in Season 5, Episode 24 (Love Me Do). Skippy has fallen madly in love with Sonia’s character, Amy Sussman, but is too shy to ask her out on a date.
However, Mallory sets them up on a dinner date and the rest, as they say, is history. Sonia Curtis does reprise her role a bit later on, in the Citizen Keaton episode of Season 6, as Skippy’s girlfriend. Aww!

Sonia Curtis was no stranger to the acting world by the time she played Amy Sussman in Family Ties, having several acting credits to her name from a young age.
In 1985, the starlet began playing the role of Nancy Pearson in Days of Our Loves; a part she continued to play until 1992. Sonia also played Tina in hit show Roseanne, back in 1990, but things slowed down for the actress in the noughties. Since then she has had minor roles in movies and shows.
Tammy Lauren as Marilyn Keaton
Tammy Lauren played Marilyn Keaton in two episodes of Family Ties; Father Time Part 1 and Part 2, both in Season She is the daughter of Uncle Rob and his now ex-wife, Aunt Maureen, who separated back in Season 5.
Rob visits with his children, Marilyn and Jonathan, who make it quite obvious they don’t want to be there. Marilyn rebels against her father, clearly upset about him dating other women, and decides to stay out late with some guy she meets at the mall.

Tammy Lauren had several big parts before appearing in Family Ties, including recurring roles in Who’s Watching the Kids, Angie, Out of the Blue, CHiPs, The Best Times, and Morningstar/Eveningstar… Phew!
Things didn’t slow down for the star in the 90s, however, as she featured in 41 episodes of Homefront as Ginger Szabo, along with playing Patty in Home Improvement. Her biggest role came in 2006, however, as Det. Maggie Sullivan for 107 episodes of The Young and The Restless! She hasn’t been in anything new since 2014, however.
Amy Lynne as Chrissy Nardino
Chrissy Nardino, played by Amy Lynne, is often spoken about in Family Ties, but we don’t actually see Jennifer’s friend until Season 5, Episodes 27 and 28 (It’s My Party Part 1 and 2).
With Jennifer’s birthday coming up, Chrissy offers to help her get all of the popular girls to show up to her party. However, things don’t quite go to plan, particularly when the puppet show turns up and totally ruins all street cred Chrissy and Jennifer had.

Amy Lynne’s first big acting break was in a TV movie called The History of White People in America, back in 1985. The parody documentary did so well; it even spawned a sequel!
After her part in Family Ties, Amy Lynne appeared in 9 episodes of the TV series Raising Miranda, and 13 episodes of Ann Jillian. However, everything went quiet for Amy on the acting front in the 1990s, and she hasn’t been in anything since 1993. According to her Twitter page, she is now a keen cyclist and lives in Aspen, Colorado.
Christina Pickles as Ruth Hobart
Christina Pickles plays Ruth Hobart, a doctor in some of the saddest episodes of Family Ties (Heartstrings Part 1 and 2). During this tense moment in the series, Steven suffers a heart attack and collapses in the family living room.
Steve has to have bypass surgery, and this is where Ruth Hobart comes in. We see her explaining the surgery, using a model of a heart, to Steven’s concerned family members. Luckily, the surgery is a success.
Christina Pickles now
Christina Pickles is somewhat of an acting legend, having 88 acting credits to her name over the years – many of which she’d got before she even starred in Family Ties.
She played Nurse Helen in St. Elsewhere for 137 episodes and Countess Elena in Another World; both parts she is extremely well recognized for. She also played Judy Geller (Ross and Monica’s mom) in the greatest sitcom of all time, Friends! Her most recent roles have been in TV shows in 2017, including Great News, Doubt, 9JKL and even Family Guy (voicing the Queen of England)!
Betsy Randle as Nancy
Betsy Randle plays Nancy in two episodes of Family Ties, but is only credit in one! We first see her in Season 7, Episode 17 (All in the Neighborhood, Part 1) and she is uncredited in Part 2.
Nancy is only a small part in the show, playing a neighbor who attends the neighborhood meeting set up by Steven when Gus and his family want to move into the area. She’s picture alongside her husband, Phil.
Betsy Randle now
While Betsy Randle may have only had the tiniest role in Family Ties, she’s not a small-time actress by any stretch of the imagination!
In fact, if you recognize her face it’s probably because she was in 158 episodes of the TV series, Boy Meets World. She also played Karen Kelly in Home Improvement and had a recurring role as Mrs. Winterbourne in Charmed. Her most recent part has been in the TV series, Girl Meets World, between 2014 and 2017, reprising her role as Amy Matthews.
Talia Balsam as Carrie Newman
Talia Balsam plays Alex’s childhood sweetheart, Carrie Newman, who reappears in Season 2, Episode 1 (Tender is the Knight). Carrie is unlike any girl Alex has met before, and he’s reluctant to go out on a date with her when she asks!
However, after he finds out she’s been on a date with a parole officer named Victor, Alex decides to save her from ‘societal dregs’ and plans what he thinks is going to be a pretty safe date. Carrie, however, has other plans.
Talia Balsam now
Talia Balsam is now a recognizable face in Hollywood, with 97 acting credits to her name. Some of her earliest roles included playing Nancy Croft in Happy Days, and Emily Jackson in Magnum P.I.
While she had several smaller parts in the 90s, her career really kicked off as she got older. She is best known for playing Mona Sterling in 13 episodes of Mad Men, Sandra in the movie No Strings Attached, and, more recently, Dallas in the TV show Divorce.
Bridgette Andersen as Young Mallory
In a flashback scene from a Christmas themed episode of Family Ties, we see Elyse Keaton in the hospital about to give birth to Jennifer.
In this scene we see a young Alex and Mallory who are standing by their mother’s hospital bed as she gets wheeled into the delivery room. An adorable Mallory asks her mother if she will be giving birth to a German Shepherd and she is visibly disappointed when she is informed she’ll be having a brother or sister.
Bridgette Andersen – deceased
Bridgette Anderson was a child actress best known for her role in the family film Savannah Smiles. Bridgette was raised in Malibu, California and at just two years old she decided she wanted to be a model and an actress.
In her short lifetime, Andersen appeared in a number of TV shows and television films such as The Parent Trap II and The Golden Girls. Andersen passed away in a tragic incident involving illegal substances at the age of 21.
Bibi Besch as Dr. Hewitt
Although Bibi Besch only appeared in one episode, she had a memorable scene. Bibi appeared as the principle of Jennifer’s school, Dr. Hewitt.
Jennifer and her parents appear in Dr. Hewitt’s office when she bans Jennifer from doing a book report on The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Dr. Hewitt is known for being a strict disciplinarian and even Jennifer’s dad Steven is frightened of the principle. But eventually Mr. Keaton threatens to contact a lawyer if the school doesn’t let Jennifer do her book report.
Bibi Besch – deceased
Bibi Besch was an Austrian born actress and the daughter of a race car driver and an Austrian theater actress. Bibi and her family eventually moved to Upstate New York and before graduating college, Bibi moved to New York City to become an actress.
She appeared in films such as Steel Magnolias, The Day After and California Myth. Besch passed away in 1996 at the age of 54 after a long battle with cancer.
Margaret Marx as Young Elyse
In a three part episode entitled Heartstrings, Steven Keaton suffers a serious heart attack and has to undergo surgery. While he is receiving anesthetics, he goes back to a memory of he and Elyse when they were young and first dating.
Margaret Marx plays a young Elyse who we see talking to a young Steve about getting married in order to go on a trip to Africa together. They don’t believe in marriage, however, they are already committed to one another and know they are right for each other.

Margaret Marx only worked as an actress for a small amount of time during the ‘80s and ‘90s. Besides her small role in Family Ties, Margaret appeared in the Woody Allen film Another Woman and the 1999 romantic-comedy, Temps.
Since she appeared in Temps, Margaret seems to have disappeared from the acting world entirely. Although she may have decided not to continue her acting career, Family Ties fans will always remember her as the younger version of Elyse Keaton.
Julie Fulton as Suzie Harris
Suzie Harris and her husband Larry show up at a family friend’s house where the Keaton’s are visiting. Each couple has brought their children except for Suzie and Larry who didn’t get the memo and leave their son, Larry Jr. at home.
Suzie feels left out and asks Larry if they can go back to their house, which is an hour away, in order to get their son. The couple gets into an argument and so do the other two couples whose babies are all crying.
Julie Fulton now
Family Ties was the first on-screen appearance for Julie Fulton who has also worked on the stage. Throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s, Fulton appeared on a number of television shows including the detective series, Private Eye, the crime series Matlock and on the medical-drama ER.
Fulton’s last known on-screen appearance was in 1997 on the teenage-drama series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Since then Fulton has returned to the stage and even had her own one woman show at the University of California San Diego.
Wendel Meldrum as Kathy Brady
When uncle Rob, Steven’s brother, comes over for a visit, he reveals some surprising news that he and his wife have decided to separate after 25 years of marriage.
What is even more surprising is that Rob brings over a date to the Keaton house. Kathy Brady is Robert Keaton’s date who is confused when she walks into the Keaton’s house and asks for Bob. Kathy is much younger than Rob and he tries to impress her by taking her out to a disco.

Although you may not recognize her unique name, you will likely remember Meldrum’s face from the famous “puffy shirt” episode of Seinfeld where she plays Leslie, the “low talking” designer.
In addition to this memorable role, the Canadian actress has appeared in a number of television shows including on the drama series NYPD Blue and on the Canadian-American sitcom Working the Engels. She also appeared in a HBO Canada drama-comedy show called Less Than Kind.
Daphne Zuniga as Rachel Miller
Daphne Zuniga may have only played Rachel Miller in two episodes of Family Ties, but she certainly makes an impression.
In Season 2, Episode 20 (The Graduate), Alex Keaton is upset because his girlfriend – Rachel – becomes class valedictorian instead of him. His outdated way of thinking that the man should be the boss soon earns him some sage advice from his father that relationships shouldn’t be about competing. Rachel doesn’t last as Alex’s girlfriend for long, however.
Daphne Zuniga now
Only appearing in two episodes of Family Ties certainly didn’t slow down the career of Daphne Zuniga! Since her appearance back in 1984, Zuniga has starred in over 30 movies and a handful of TV shows, including as a recurring character in Melrose Place.
Her most recent roles were in 2017, including playing Shelly in Those Left Behind and Michelle in Heartbeats. It seems as though Daphne Zuniga has no plans to slow down anytime soon, but she has said that she attends private meditation retreats to de-stress once in a while.
Courteney Cox as Lauren Miller
Almost a decade before she landed her life changing role as Monica Geller on Friends, a 23 year-old Courteney Cox played Lauren Miller on Family Ties.
For the last two seasons of the series, Lauren was Alex’s girlfriend who was an outspoken feminist and a psychology major in college. This makes for an interesting relationship as Alex is notably conservative in his political views. The two briefly break up after Alex develops feelings for Marty Brodie while Lauren is away.
Courteney Cox now
We all know what happened to Courteney Cox’s career after Family Ties ended. In 1994, she landed her breakout role as Monica on Friends and her career only expanded from there.
Courteney went onto star in the Scream movies where she met David Arquette, whom she is now divorced from. In 2009, the actress got her own shown called Cougar Town which lasted until 2015. In 2014 she announced that she was engaged to Johnny McDaid who is a member of the band Snow Patrol.
Justine Bateman as Mallory Keaton
Mallory Keaton is a sweet and bright girl, however, her older brother Alex often looks down on her and teases her just like most other siblings.
Mallory is encouraged by her teacher her tells her that she can reach the same potential as her brother. In many ways, Mallory was the typical 1980s teenager who was focused on her looks Mallory has a boyfriend named Nick throughout the show whom Steve, her father, is not fond of.
Justine Bateman now
Following her time on Family Ties, Justine Bateman followed the footsteps of her on-screen mother and did a number of television movies.
Bateman also made guest appearances on various other shows such as Psych and Desperate Housewives. Her most recent acting job was in 2013 in the independent film, Deep Dark Canyon. Nowadays, Bateman is an advocate for net neutrality and she recently graduated from UCLA with her undergraduate degree.
