Meanwhile, an additional team was out capturing other game for translocation. Approximately 2,000 other native animals, including warthogs, buffaloes, zebras, kudus, and waterbucks, were caught and relocated to the very same nature reserve in Nkhotakota.
The sanctuary, therefore, became a real, authentic reserve, with various species of game, to live alongside the new – and old – elephant residents. All of the animals were free to roam together, as they did back in their homes of Liwonde and Majete, but this time, they were all safely protected.
