With all the harsh criticism and accusations that SeaWorld has been charged with, one of the stories it had to face with was the Blackfish documentary which really put the park in a bad light. The documentary followed the story of Tilikum and how he was pulled away from its family and kept under poor conditions and suffered from lack of emotional stimulation. In an attempt to save their image, SeaWorld came out with a public marketing campaign including posts about how they were lowering prices and showing video segments of their vets were taking care of the Orca calves. This campaign basically went down the drain as they didn’t do a good enough job convincing the public of their good behavior.
