Though he’s been kicking around Hollywood since the late ’90s, most people only met Jorge Garcia when Lost began in 2004. Portraying slacker Hugo “Hurley” Reyes, Garcia was often the comic relief but later showed just how important he was to the show. There were some unforeseen challenges to his star-making role, though. For example, being stuck on a deserted island meant having to lose weight. Garcia, pushing 400 pounds at that point, struggled with his weight throughout his life. Nevertheless, through changing his diet and with an assist from personal trainers he was able to shed 30 pounds.
