As an adult, you probably spend most of your time wishing you never grew up and remained a child for ever (we know we think that every single day) – and when it comes to choosing a hobby, you can! Take your mind back to the days of being a kid, and frolicking in the garden making mud pies, drawing all over your parents brand new cabinets, or playing dress-up with your dolls. All of these fun childhood activities can make a great hobby, whether that be learning the art of landscaping, taking an art class, or learning patterns to make your own clothes. If you loved it as a kid, the likelihood is that you still do.

Take advantage of your shopping trips

We all have certain items that we just can’t help but buy EVERY SINGLE TIME we enter a shop (it’s a bit of a problem), but we all have guilty pleasures. This could be investing in the latest shoes, buying another scented candle (although you already have 178 at home) or it could be buying another book to add to your I-Must-Read pile. Well, to find your perfect hobby, you can take advantage of your shopping trips by thinking what it is you love and trying it for yourself. So if you love buying shoes, why not grab one of your old pairs and customize them yourself? If you love scented candles, why not try making them yourself? And if you love buying books, why not try writing your own? The opportunities are endless.

Try a few out for yourself

When it comes to choosing a hobby, there are so many options it can all prove pretty overwhelming. What if you don’t enjoy it? What if you’re rubbish at it? What if I can’t find the time to do it? The only way to answer these questions is to try them out for yourself. Look around your local area at different clubs or sports teams you could join or look online for any talents you want to pursue and give it a go. If you don’t like it, don’t carry on. If you love it, you’ve found yourself a hobby!

Focus on what you want to change

Let’s be honest, we all have insecurities and things we want to change about ourselves. It could be that you want to lose weight, it could be that you want to be more extrinsic and outgoing, or it could be that you want to improve your fashion sense. You can turn all of these insecurities into a hobby, to better your life – all you need to do is focus on what you want to change. For example, if you wish to lose weight, you could join a local fitness class, or you could take healthy cookery lessons. If you wish to be more outgoing, you could take yourself to a singles night every week to make yourself more confident. Lastly, if you wish to improve your fashion sense, you could take an adult learning course in fashion design!
