Harry Potter love lives off the set

Hey there friends, welcome back to your favorite magical place on earth – the Harry Potter universe! The world of butterbeer and Patronuses, where broomsticks fly and glasses can be repaired by the flick of a wand. Yes, the world of Harry Potter is quite wonderful, and the film adaptations are quite marvelous as well. But one of the reasons for this is the outstanding cast, and we want to know what they’ve been up to off the set. More specifically, we want to know who they’ve been dating.

Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy)

Portrayed by Tom Felton, the nature of Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter’s relationship were that of adversaries – or perhaps you could call them enemies, that kind of cared about each other deep down. The proof was that when all was said and done (and the Harry Potter series was “over”), they actually seemed to be on relatively good terms. Of course, this could be due to the fact that Harry saved his life from the fiendfyre created by the big oaf, Gregory Goyle.

Tom Felton and Jade Olivia (dated)

Some people may not know this, but Tom Felton and Daniel Radcliffe (the actor for Harry) are actually really good friends. But Tom is not only a good friend, but he is a pretty loyal boyfriend as well. Although they are not together anymore, apparently him and Jade Olivia dated very seriously – for a whole eight years (from 2008 to 2016)! Now that right there is loyalty – kind of like Draco’s loyalty to his father.

Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley)

Bonnie Wright plays the role of Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter films, a role that is very important. Not only is Ginny the love interest and eventual wife of our hero, Harry himself, but she provides a crucial component to the forces of Dumbledore’s Army, an anti-Voldemort youth movement that gets formed in the fifth installment (Order of Phoenix), right under the stubby nose of Professor Umbridge. She’s also got grit. A lot of it. You don’t want to be on the wrong end of her bat-bogey hex.

Bonnie Wright and Jamie Campbell Bower (engaged and split)

But Bonnie is quite safe in real life, we assure you. In fact, some people complained that she wasn’t “rambunctious” enough to play Ginny. But regarding her rambunctiousness, we may learn a little bit more about it if we ask her ex-fiance, Jamie Campbell Bower. It turns out that Bower actually also played a role in the Harry Potter franchise – the role of young Gellert Grindelwald. They fell for each other on the set, and they were together for a while but it wasn’t to last.

Alfred Enoch (Dean Thomas)

And now we have Mr. Dean Thomas, played by Mr. Alfred Enoch. Dean is a character that gets on fairly well with Harry for most of his time at Hogwarts – that is until the sixth book (Half-Blood Prince), when they both have an affinity for Ginny. Dean and Ginny are dating, and this happens to be around the time that Harry starts having feelings for her. Eventually Ginny leaves Dean for Harry, and while Harry and Dean’s relationship becomes slightly strained, they eventually make up after that.

Alfred Enoch and Aja Naomi King (allegedly dating)

But we don’t have to feel too bad for Dean, because in real life, his alter ego isn’t doing too bad of a job in the love department. Indeed, Enoch has been allegedly dating Aja Naomi King, his fellow actress and co-star on the TV drama How to Get Away With Murder. The truth is that many signs point to the fact that they’re together – Dean has even acknowledged that he has a girlfriend, and the pair are seen together in many pictures looking very cozy.

David Thewlis (Remus Lupin)

That’s Riddikulus! If you didn’t understand that reference right off the bat, have no fear – there are few who can… (Basically, Remus Lupin, played by the notable David Thewlis, is Harry’s Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher in the third movie, and he teaches their whole class how to perform a spell called “Riddikulus”. There. Are you happy?) Lupin is a werewolf, and he is vicious under the full moon – if he hasn’t taken his potion.

David Thewlis and Anna Friel (dated)

On a flight to Cannes is where Thewlis and Anna Friel met. She’s a British actress known for her appearance in many films, including the sci-fi thriller Limitless, and she and Thewlis dated openly from 2001 to 2010, and they actually have a child together named Gracie. The pair would eventually call it quits, but they wanted their daughter to be close to both of them, so they thoughtfully bought houses across the street from each other.

Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory)

Cedric Diggory, played by Twilight’s Robert Pattinson, is first introduced to us in the books when Harry plays against him in Quidditch in Prisoner of Azkaban. Being the Hufflepuff seeker, he actually hands Harry his first, but being the fair player that he is, he admitted that the reason Hufflepuff won was because of the presence of the dementors at the Quidditch match. Cedric is the third Hogwarts champion in the Goblet of Fire, and sadly, he eventually gets killed by Voldemort.

Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs (were engaged)

When Pattinson was an actor in the Twilight series, you practically couldn’t walk down the street without running into a girl gushing over him. That’s why you can imagine that it might be hard for them to imagine him being taken – and when he was engaged to British singer FKA Twigs, that was most probably the consensus reaction. But there is hope for them yet (though we feel guilty saying it). Unfortunately, the couple decided they did not want to be engaged, and split up.

James Phelps (Fred Weasley)

Ahh, Fred and George. Gred and Feorge (they actually refer to themselves by that term in the first book, the Sorcerer’s Stone). The Weasley twins. These two are quite interchangeable, and that’s why even thought this section is about Fred, we’re going to talk about George as well. And even more perfect is the fact that the actors who play them are also twins – James and Oliver Phelps. But our love for them becomes painfully obvious when Fred dies in the seventh installment.

James Phelps and Simone Burke (dated)

In the Goblet of Fire, Fred Weasley takes out Angelina Johnson to the Yule Ball, and in real life, he has enjoyed some success in the love department as well. In fact, off the set of Harry Potter he dated a lovely young lady by the name of Simone Burke, an American film producer who has worked on reality TV series such as Breaking The Faith. But Phelps was able to find someone new since then – a woman named Annika Ostle, who he would eventually marry.

Oliver Phelps (George Weasley)

Let’s finish our segment of Fred and George by discussing some of the awesome things they’ve done in the Harry Potter universe. Ok let’s see, they were notorious rule breakers, and still acknowledged that Harry might have a bigger need for the Marauder’s Map, and gave it to him. What else? Oh yeah, they became Hogwarts legends when they dropped out of an Umbridge ruled school in the coolest way possible – flying off on broomsticks.

Oliver Phelps and Katy Humpage (married)

Like his brother James, Oliver was able to find love off the set of Harry Potter, and they both have this is common that they are both still happily married to their respective wives. Oliver got married in 2015 to a nice girl named Katy Humpage. It was reported that they were actually together for a while in 2008, and then broke up. It seemed that some of their spark was still there though, and they eventually found their way back into each other’s arms.

Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley)

Other than Harry himself, probably the biggest main character in the series (along with Hermione) is Ron Weasley, played by Rupert Grint. He is Harry’s best friend, and inside source of the wizarding world. When Harry first meets him, they are on the Hogwarts Express together, on the way to school for the first time. A master of chess, Ron is everywhere in the series, and we wish that the movies would’ve done his character slightly more justice, by not giving most of his lines to Hermione.

Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome (dated)

Rupert Grint has done very well in Hollywood since his time in Harry Potter, and even appeared in a film called CBGB, depicting the punk music scene in the 70s. He has also starred in the movie Double Date, where he met a lovely lady by the name of Georgia Groome, who he co-starred with. The pair dated for a while, but they have been on and off. Simply look at this picture and you can see that they have chemistry – they may be off now, but you never know.

Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter)

And of course, how could we forget, Mr. Harry Potter himself. The boy who couldn’t stop garnering up accolades if he tried. Seriously though, if Harry Potter himself had a Wikipedia page, what would it say? “Defeated arguably the most evil sorcerer of all time… Killed a basilisk… Survived a killing curse as a baby…” For an outside reader, they might be like – this guy is a savage! But seriously though (“Siriusly though”) – Harry Potter is.

Daniel Radcliffe and Erin Darke (dating)

Harry Potter may be the man of the hour, but there is someone that is getting lost in the translation – Daniel Radcliffe. Indeed, Radcliffe got his start into acting when he first appeared in the Harry Potter series, and has since become quite famous. He has also enjoyed the throws of a beautiful relationship with fellow actress Erin Darke, who he met on the set of Kill Your Darlings, where they were co-stars in 2013. They have an awesome connection, but we hope he still keeps in touch with Ginny!

Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood)

Arugably one of the oddest people in the Harry Potter series in none other than Luna Lovegood, and there are many reasons for this. Portrayed by Evanna Lynch, Luna is day dreamy, makes up strange words such as “wrackspurts” and “nargles”, and can sometimes get on people’s nerves with her stubbornness about things that she believes to be true. That being said, on the flip side, Luna is a character that some Harry Potter fans put at the top of their list – perhaps she’s an acquired taste.

Evanna Lynch and Robbie Jarvis (dated)

Just like her alter ego, Evanna Lynch has a very loopy personality. But we’re guessing she doesn’t have the ability to see thestrals. However, like her co-star Bonnie Wright, Lynch was very into the idea of dating opportunities on the set, and she struck up a romance with Robbie Jarvis, the actor for young James Potter. Their relationship kept going for a while, and but eventually it fizzled out, and young James Potter had to go stag again… See what we did there?

Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort)

Ralph Fiennes plays Voldemort! He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named…. That guy is something else, eh? Originally named Tom Riddle, after his “filthy muggle father”, as he would rudely put, he was born into an orphanage and immediately knew he was special. In other words, he was a wizard. Unlike other wizards, however, Riddle was actually the heir of Salazar Slytherin, a wizard blood purist and founding member of Hogwarts. Riddle eventually became Voldemort, tried to kill Harry and… Well, Harry eventually kills him (spoiler alert).

Ralph Fiennes and Alex Kingston (married and divorced)

But don’t worry friends, because the actor who plays Voldemort, Ralph Fiennes, is nowhere near as bad as his character that he portrays is, and even if he was, we’re pretty sure he doesn’t know how to do any magic. And as far as his love life goes, he is just as human as any of us, not devoid of love woes like the best of us. He actually was married to a Alex Kingston, a woman who he met in art school, but they wouldn’t eventually get divorced.

Mark Williams (Arthur Weasley)

Although Harry Potter sadly grew up without his parents, he could rest easy knowing that Mr. and Mrs. Weasley were there to look after him. As a Muggle-loving Ministry worker, Arthur was one of the most-loved characters in the Order of the Phoenix, known for his fair but firm attitude. Despite the fact that he had his own children to look after, Arthur always made time for Harry and the Order – even if he did nearly die in the process!

Mark Williams and Diane Williams (married)

Just like his on-screen character, Mark Williams is just as caring and loving on-screen as he is in real life. After his time on Harry Potter, Mark has continued to act in various TV shows and movies, including the popular comedy sketch show, Father Brown and the British movie drama, Albert Nobbs. He shares his success with his wonderful wife, Diane Williams, and their child. Although he hasn’t scored himself a major role since his Harry Potter days, we can still see the magic in him.

Emma Watson (Hermione Granger)

As one of the troublesome trio, Hermione Granger was the cement that held her, Harry and Ron together. Known to be the talented brainbox of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Hermione was the person to go to if you needed any magical history, spells, or knowledge – or even if you wanted your homework checked over. She eventually became the Minister for Magic, which tells you just how awesome she really was… and if that wasn’t enough, she FINALLY married Ron by the end of the last book/movie.

Emma Watson and Will Adamowicz (dated)

Emma Watson is the kind of actress who likes to keep her personal life away from the spotlight – but as one of the most popular women in the world of Hollywood, this doesn’t stop snippets of information from leaking into the press. It’s been noted that Emma found love in the arms of an Oxford University rugby player by the name of Will Adamowicz, while she was studying at both Brown and Oxford. The couple dated on and off for many years, before finally ending things in 2014.

Imelda Staunton (Dolores Umbridge)

Dolores, Dolores, Dolores, what are we going to do with you?! Introduced to us in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Dolores Umbridge was a ministry official brought into Hogwarts to ‘interfere’ with Dumbledore’s leadership. She certainly did just that, as she soon found herself sitting in the High Inquisitor seat, before trying (and failing) to get herself in to Dumbledore’s sherbert-lemon office. Thankfully, this evil witch didn’t stay around for long. Thanks to Fred, George, Grawp and the Centaurs, this witch was sent away for good.

Imelda Staunton and Jim Carter (married)

There’s no need to be afraid, Muggles – because Imelda Staunton is nothing like her on-screen character. Thank goodness! In the non-magical world, Imelda is a hugely talented actress with a wealth of acting experience under her belt. In 1983, Imelda tied the knot with the popular English actor, Jim Carter. Ten years later, the pair welcomed their daughter, Bessie, into the world, and they have since introduced her to the world of acting. In fact, all three of them appeared in the BBC period drama, Cranford.

David Tennant (Barty Crouch Jnr.)

Or do we call him Mad-Eye Moody? We’re not sure. We were first introduced to Barty Crouch Jnr. in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire – but Barty soon ditches his real body, drinks a whole load of Polyjuice Potion, and pretends to be the highly qualified auror and teacher – Professor Moody. After luring Harry straight into the arms of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, we soon discovered that Crouch Jnr. had been using his alias to help Lord Voldemort regain his full strength.

David Tennant and Georgia Moffett (married)

Okay, he may look the spitting image of the Death Eater we all loathe – but we can assure you that David Tennant is not here to destroy the world. In fact, he’s used to saving the world in his Tardis as Doctor Who! In real life, David Tennant is happily married to a fellow actress, Georgia Moffett. The couple have been married since 2011 and have since welcomed four wonderful children into the world. As if that wasn’t cool enough, these two have even acted alongside each other in Doctor Who.

Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom)

If you’re a true Potterhead, you’ll know the hugely important role Neville Longbottom played in the magical world of Harry Potter – even if he didn’t originally make an impact on us all. As a fellow Gryffindor, Neville proved that he was a huge asset to Harry, Ron and Hermione’s quest. Not only did he reign them in when they overstepped the mark, but he also became an important member of Dumbledore’s Army – before killing Lord Voldemort’s Horcrux during the Battle of Hogwarts.

Matthew Lewis and Angela Jones (engaged)

When it comes down to it, we’re all pretty jealous of Angela Jones. She first met Matthew Lewis while working at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando and fell in love with her very own wizard! Just a few months after their initial meeting, the pair announced their engagement to the world in 2015, after Matthew popped the question under the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It’s not yet known when these two lovebirds will tie the knot, but we’ll wish them congratulations anyway!
