Quick question – what’s your favorite color? Now think carefully, as this question can reveal more about you than you think.
What am I talking about? Well, as it turns out, each person’s favorite color is tied to something that is very specific to them and which makes them who they are. Science has shown that it is possible to determine what your personality type is based on a 45 question test about color and how you perceive them.
Wait, what?
According to theory written by psychologist Dr. Taylor Hartman, it turns out that the colors you are attracted to are able to show what type of personality you have.
He has devised a 45 question multiple choice test which then divides you into a color. But this color isn’t arbitrary. One of the questions asked is “what is your favorite color?” It turns out that the people who answer the same way on the test all answered the same favorite color.
What does it say about me?
The personalities are divided into four main colors: red, blue, white, and yellow. For people who are in between there is also pink, purple, orange, and green.
Because humans are so different in their experiences, Dr. Hartman acknowledges the fact that these tests only provide a baseline personality test, but the results are still shockingly accurate.
Which one are you?
After thousands of people took the test, Dr. Hartman found that those who like the color red are typically more drawn to power. They are more likely to be fiercely independent, determined, and pragmatic people. When making decisions or carrying out tasks, people who prefer red are very unlikely to allow emotions to get in the way of their thought processes.
However, this may lead to them being perceived as rude and perhaps even quite domineering.
Dr. Hartman found that people who prefer the color white are driven more by peace and non-confrontation, trying to do what is comfortable for them. They are typically kinder and make great listeners.
Yet these people also often find it difficult to set goals and share their feelings, thus coming off as very passive aggressive. They also tend to be quite self deprecating.
On the other hand, those who like yellow tend to be motivated by fun, tend to be very enthusiastic about whatever they are doing, love spontaneity, and overall just love to have a great time.
People who are in the “yellow” category typically have a lot of friends, but most of those friendships are superficial in nature. They also usually have a tough time working seriously.
And finally, we have the blue people. They are very relationship oriented but are also tend to be worriers and perfectionists. They therefore find it hard to trust that other people won’t let them down. But despite this, they are very loyal and caring people.
The biggest detriment to people who are in the blue camp is that they are very unforgiving and very insecure about themselves. This insecurity and inability to forgive make them quite pessimistic and may lead them to be controlling.
With a grain of salt
As with all studies and personality tests, it is always important to take everything with a grain of salt. Not everyone is always exactly the personality trait of their favorite color. There may be people who are driven go-getting leaders who love white. There may be Debbie downers who just can’t get enough of the color blue.
All in all, this personality test is super interesting and may have the ability to reveal a lot about a person’s personality type. Does it work for you?
