It’s really hard to resist pinching the cheeks of little puffer fish. But did you know that these big fluffy cheeks make the puffer fish second most poisonous vertebrate on the planet? If you’re bitten by one, the venom from teeth with paralyze your diaphragm and you’ll suffocate to death. It only takes one of these little guys to kill a group of 30 adults (that’s how much poison he contains!). The exact type of poison in his puffy cheeks is called tetrodotoxin and it’s 1,200 times more dangerous than cyanide. We hope we didn’t ruin fishing for you.
