Ungraspable details of celebrity prenups

Some would argue that signing a prenuptial agreement is a total romance killer, however for these Hollywood stars, signing one is almost crucial with all that money and different assets. From infidelity clauses to other bizarre sections of their agreements, here are the most interesting details of celebrity prenups. Just in case, you never know.

Beyonce & Jay Z

This power musical duo has just welcomed their new-born twins, so we doubt that they are planning on going their separate ways any time soon, but still, it’s good to know that when there is so much money and assets involved in this marriage, they were smart enough to have a prenup prepared before they tied the knot. It’s really hard to to say who is worth more of the two, but let’s just say that with an estimated net worth of $1 billion, it doesn’t really matter, as long as they are covered. In their prenuptial agreement, the Queen herself signed that if the two should ever separate, she will be granted $5 million for every child she has with the wealthy rapper and $1 million for every year that the two had been married. Now that they are parents of three children, this makes a huge difference.

Justin Timberlake & Jessica Biel

It’s hard to imagine this sweet couple needing to open up their prenup agreement, because no one wants to see them going their separate ways. However, as much as they love each other and keep posting adorable messages on their social media accounts, the ‘What Goes Around Comes Around’ singer has been rumored to be unfaithful more than once throughout their relationship. This is exactly why Biel decided to include an ‘infidelity’ cause which states that if Timberlake was caught cheating, she would be compensated with $500,000.

Britney Spears & Kevin Federline

Speaking of Justin Timberlake, his former long-time girlfriend and Mickey Mouse Club co-star, was worth an estimated $65 million when she divorced Kevin Federline. Their 60 plus page prenup assured that the pop singer will be protected financially should they divorce, and thank god for that. Federline ended up getting ‘just’ one million dollars. If that isn’t enough, another clause that was included in the agreement stated that any gift that was worth more than $7,000, should be accompanied by a legal document which states who will own it after the divorce is finalized.

Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban

Sometimes even when one party doesn’t believe in signing a prenup, they have an entourage of lawyers and advisors that would advise them otherwise. That was the case for the Academy Award winning actress, Australia born Nicole Kidman when she married her country music hubby in 2006. Their prenup states in short that if they ever separate, Urban will receive around $650,000 for every year that they were married. However, if he was to struggle again with drug abuse, he wouldn’t get a dime.

Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes

When Tom and Katie married in 2006, no one could ever imagine that these two would end things one day. They did however, as much as they loved each other, struck deal which guaranteed the Dawson’s Creek alumni would get $3 million for each year they were married in the event of a divorce. They also decided to cap the sum at $33 million, so it wouldn’t explode. Th power couple finalized their divorce in 2012 after six years of marriage.

Jessica Simpson & Tony Romo

Since she divorced her first husband and reality co-star, Nick Lachey, it took the singer and actress a few years to find her peace again in terms of settling down. In the meantime Simpson dated a few men including The Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Tony Romo, to whom she was engaged. The two never walked down the aisle but did have a prenup ready. Now, the clause that Romo had supposedly insisted on including took us by surprise, but in any case it stated that if h Simpson was to weigh more than 135 pounds at any point of their marriage, he would be granted with half a million dollars of her assets for each extra pound she put on. Basically, he didn’t want a fat wife.

Lamar Odom & Khloe Kardashian

The youngest of the Kardashian female clan, Khloe, married her NBA beau just a few months after they met. Their legal paperwork included all kinds of clauses, and thankfully they signed those papers because the two finalized their divorce in 2016. As part of the agreement, it was stated that Khloe would get $500,000 for ever year the couple was married. On top of that, she was to get more than $5,000 a month for keeping up with her beauty and shopping.

Ice T & Coco

This prenup just went plastic. The reality stars who welcomed their daughter in 2015, are probably not setting the best example for their infant, because it turns out that in the case of a divorce, Ice T would retain full possession on his wife’s assets, and we’re talking about her physical assets including her breast and behind implants. Well, this is certainly one creative prenuptual agreement.

Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries

Everyone’s been talking about the fact that their marriage only lasted 72 days, and that’s after they threw one of the most expensive and extravagant weddings in history. However, not many know the details of their prenup. When they signed the agreement a week into their married life, Kim was worth an estimated $35 million while her baller hubby’s net worth was estimated somewhere between $8-16 million. All we know is that Kim as fully protected of her millions in the case of a divorce.

Denise Richards & Charlie Sheen

When you get into a relationship with a controversial actor such as Charlie Sheen and you feel like things are getting serious, the smartest thing a woman in that situation could do is sign a prenuptial agreement, just like actress Denise Richards did before she married Sheen in 2002. Richards was smart enough to add an ‘infidelity clause’ which would guarantee she would receive $4 million if Charlie was to cheat on her. Wait, this is not the only prenup Charlie Sheen has signed.

Ben Affleck & Jennifer Lopez

Who can forget ‘Bennifer’? We’re talking about the first Jenny that the Oscar winner dated – Jennifer Lopez of course. These two were one of the most beautiful couples on the red carpet when they dated, but many people also questioned how solid their relationship really was. When Ben asked the singer to marry him, the two decided to sign a prenup while thy were engaged, which included a clause that if Ben ever cheated she would get half of his money.

Rosanne Barr & Tom Arnold

The famous comedians who were married for four years back in the 90’s were so madly in love that they decided they didn’t need a prenup. In fact, the funny woman, who was married once before her marriage to Arnold, fired her attorney for even suggesting that she should sign a prenuptial agreement. Unfortunately for Barr, good things really did come to an end and the couple’s divorce turned out to be one of the ugliest ones in Hollywood history. Arnold walked out with $50 million and his ex-wife tattooed on his chest.

Elizabeth Taylor & Larry Fortensky

When you have been married seven times in the past, you really have to get creative with the ways you’re trying to keep your man to stick around. Larry was the actress’s eight (and last) husband and the two married in 1991. As part of the paperwork that was signed is was stated that Fortensky would be granted $1 million as long as they stay together for at least five years, and even if the two were still married. Guess what, their marriage lasted five years, but they were such good friends that Taylor left Larry almost another million dollars in her will.

Gwen Stefani & Blake Shelton

Ok, so these two talented artists haven’t officially set a date, but they have been so in love ever since they became an item that they have been talking wedding bells very seriously. Shelton and Stefani are reportedly planning to tie the knot this coming Christmas and they have been talking about a prenuptial agreement, which has kind of become a thorn in their relationship. The Hollaback Girl singer is worth almost twice as much as the country singer so it’s definitely going to be interesting.

Charlie Sheen & Brooke Mueller

The actor married his third wife in 2008, but their marriage only lasted three years. In their prenuptial agreement, the two signed that Mueller was entitled to $500,000 (in cash) on the day of their wedding and $300,000 more when they will celebrate first anniversary every year. Their bizarre wedding ceremony was a clear sign of what was coming their way, because we all know their marriage didn’t last too long. The man just doesn’t seem to learn his lesson.

Michael Douglas & Catherine Zeta-Jones

These two, despite their huge age difference, have been one of Hollywood’s most powerful couples since they tied the knot in 2000. When they decided to say their I Do’s, the actress’s lawyers penned a nice agreement which would guarantee Catherine would get $2.8 million for every year of their marriage, and a bonus $5 million in case he cheated. We have a feeling she wasn’t really worried about the latter clause.

Jack Welch & Jane Beasley Welch

Welch was the CEO of a huge conglomerate for twenty years which so you would think he would learn a thing or two on how to handle his business. Well, it turned out he did amazing in the corporate world, but when it came to his divorce, this wasn’t the case. The one mistake he did in his marriage contract was signing the Sunset Clause which states that the couple’s prenup was to be nulled after ten years of marriage. Welch was worth $450 million at the time and he cheated 13 years into his marriage, so if you do the math that was a lot of money Jane Beasley walked away with.

Chris Rock & Malaak Compton-Rock

There was nothing funny about the comedian’s divorce when he and his wife of 20 years went their separate ways. The couple tied the knot in 1996, and while we don’t know all the deets about their agreement, we do know that it had an expiry date on their 18th wedding anniversary. Malaak, who had gotten used to a certain lifestyle after being married to the rich actor for so many years, is now seeking a huge chunk of his fortune which is estimated at $70 million.

Hugh Hefner & Crystal Harris

Who said love never existed at the Playboy mansion? Take television personality, Crystal Harris, who was 26 years old when she married Hugh Hefner, who was 86 years old at the time. She agreed to marry him, even thought it was stated in the prenup that she would get nothing if the two got divorced. She was also never added to his will, and therefore inherited nothing when he died. Upon his death, his money was split between his children and different charities.

Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon

The talented singer and the actor seemed to have had it all when they married in 2008. However, the couple divorced in 2016, although there have been rumors running around that they are planning to get back together. When they signed their prenup, they signed a confidentiality clause which stated that they couldn’t discuss each other’s private lives with the media if they were to divorce. In case on of them for some reason spilled the beans, they would have to pay up between $250,000 to $500,000.

Paul McCartney & Heather Mills

All You Need is Love and a really good lawyer. The former Beatles member probably made the biggest mistake of his life when he refused to sign a prenup when he married his second wife, Heather Mills in 2002. Their marriage went the wrong direction and Heather walked away with $33 million in addition to an extra $15 millions worth of assets.

Mel Gibson & Robyn Denise Moore Gibson

We think we just figured out another reason why we barely see the 61-year-old actor anymore, he must have gotten so depressed by the crazy amount he lost during his divorce that he went under the radar. When Mel Gibson and his wife of 25 years married in 1980, they were certain they would be together forever. Well, they did stay for 25 years which is a lifetime in Hollywood. They were probably so in love when they tied the knot that they didn’t want a prenup. Well, let’s just say that Robyn has received around 50% of her husband’s net worth, which was estimated at $900 million! Ouch.

George Clooney & Amal Clooney

Hollywood’s  all-time bachelor has finally settled down (again) and this time it seems much more promising. When George Clooney and Amal married in a stunning Italian wedding in 2014, the actor went all out when it came to the expenses of their wedding. He must have been very positive about the future. We hope that the couple, who just welcomed twins, won’t evr get divorced, but in case they do it has been reported the Amal will get $20 million.

Steven Spielberg & Amy Irving

The Oscar winning director married his first wife, Amy Irving around the same year he directed the film, The Color Purple, which was a big hit. Their marriage only lasted four years and boy did he wish he had a more formal prenup. The two signed their contract on a cocktail napkin, which later didn’t really hold up in court. Let’s just say that Amy walked away with more than a good drink, she took $100 million in the settlement. Well, it can’t really hurt when you’re worth more than 2 billion dollars.

Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner

It seems like ever since they reported on their split, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have been nothing but classy about their decisions and the way they handled themselves. The couple, who is reportedly worth $150 million together have used a mediator to work things out before theu finalized their divorce as they didn’t have a prenuptial agreement. When there are so many movie royalties, assets and money involved, there’s no wonder it took the duo nearly two years to finalize their divorce papers.

Tiger Woods & Elin Nordegren

This one must have hurt big time, literally. When the professional Golf player married Swedish model, Elin Nordegren, the original agreement that they signed back in 2004 said that Elin would be granted $20 million if their marriage was to last ten years. However, after his messy cheating scandal broke out and his image was pretty much shattered, he offered his ex-wife $100 million for her silence.

Eva Langoria & Tony Parker

Eva and the San Antonio Spurs player married in a beautiful European wedding in 2007, three years after they met. When the actress filed for divorce citing ‘irreconcilable differences’, things just got messier. Both of the stars wanted their prenup enforced and executed, however when the 42-year-old actress filed the papers, her requests, for example for spousal support, was inconsistent with the original contents of the prenup. Eventually the two were in sync and ended things fairly well.

Kim Kardashian & Kanye West

When you have so much money, as a couple and on your own, it really gives you an opportunity to be generous with your life partner in case you get divorced. The reality star and the famous rapper and music producer knew each other way before they got married and had their two children, which probably helped the atmosphere when they signed the prenup. The agreement stated that Kim would get one million dollars for every year that they were married as well as their Bel Air house and any gifts and jewelry she got from her rich husband.

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie

When Brangelina announced they were getting divorced earlier this year, it took everyone by surprise. No one knew what Hollywood would look like now that their power couple was going their separate ways. Thankfully, the Oscar winner, who married Angie in 2014 after they have been together for a very long time, convinced his less practical half to sign a prenup. While we don’t know much about the actual numbers, the prenup does state that if the two were ever to get a divorce, Angie would get custody of their six children. We don’t know about you, we’re still hoping these two will work things out.

Mark Zuckerberg & Priscilla Chan

The young entrepreneur who’s net worth is estimated at $64 billion (yes you’re reading it right) knew that the day would come that he will say his vows to someone who loves him for himself and not just for his millions. Well, apparently the Facebook mogul did right when he married Harvard graduate, Priscilla Chan, because the clause that she asked to add to their prenup was that he was to spend one night a week with her that was entirely dedicated to her with no distractions. Can you think of a better way to spend your date night?
