While she was still a student at the prestigious school for the performing arts, Juilliard, McGovern was cast to be part of the film Ordinary People, playing the girlfriend of Conrad Jarrett. She later had a very successful stage career both in New York and on London. She did continue to work in film as well and she was part of the epic film, Once Upon a Time in America alongside Robert De Niro.
