The 66 year old actor and comedian rose to fame and gained mainstream recognition when he was part of the Saturday Night Live cast back in 1977 for which he received his first Emmy award. Appearing on the satirical show really opened the door to comedy for Murray who later starred in films like Meatballs, Stripes, Tootsie, Ghostbusters (both films), Scrooged and more.

Murray later gained critical acclaim when he starred alongside Scarlett Johansson in Lost in Translation in 2003. He won a Golden Globe and a Bafta Award for Best Actor for his role in the movie. His personal life was also quite dynamic when Murray married Margaret Kelly in 1981 on Super Bowl Sunday. The two had two sons, but after an affair he was having, the couple split in 1994. Murray later married Jennifer Butler, with whom he was having the affair with and they had four sons together, however she filed for divorce in 2008. Most recently Murray was honored with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.
