Her film debut was in a drama named Hard Country in 1981. By 1983 she was already a Bond girl, Domino Petachi, where she played alongside Sean Connery.

Bassinger’s film career continued to rise, and one of the biggest highlights of her career was in 1997 where she played Lynn Bracken in L.A Confidential, a film which earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, as well as a SAG award. Since 2000 she appeared in different films including I Dreamed of Africa, 8 Mile, Cellular and in 2017 she will play in Fifty Shades Darker.
