[post_page_title]Meghan and Harry move to L.A.[/post_page_title]

When the royal couple first announced their impending exit from the clan, Royal Family watchers speculated that they’d eventually end up in California – Meghan’s home state. And yet, it still came as a huge surprise when they ended up doing just that, for reasons that will immediately become clear. At first, it seemed as though they’d dropped off of the world’s radar, but then they resurfaced – apparently living in Tyler Perry’s private $18 million mansion! Many believe that it was none other than Oprah Winfrey who made the arrangements, but this has been neither confirmed nor denied so far.

[post_page_title]Who’s picking up the tab?[/post_page_title]

A lot of the details regarding the Sussexes’ stay at the Perry mansion are as yet unknown. Harry insists that he’s paying for his own security, but other than that we’re in the dark as to the other arrangements. Whether they’re renting from Tyler or if he’s generously letting them stay at his fabulous crib for free, it’s clear that this sprawling manor in the heart of the exclusive Beverly Ridge Estates is exactly what the blue-blooded couple are used to for their typical “staycations.” In fact, the gate-guarded complex was formerly home to American royalty, like heiress Paris Hilton.

[post_page_title]Enjoying all the amenities[/post_page_title]

Belonging to “the richest man in entertainment,” Tyler Perry’s house more than lives up to expectations. Built in 2012 to his exact specifications, we might add, the eight-bedroom manor features 12 luxurious bathrooms and is resplendently designed in a modern style. With glass chandeliers, rich oak, and breathtaking views throughout, the house seems like something out of a fairytale. Unlike a fairytale, though, there’s a spacious study for our royals to work from, a roomy nursery for little Archie to sleep in, and even a grand piano in the living room for those much needed musical breaks.

[post_page_title]Moving out on their own[/post_page_title]

Why they would ever want to leave Perry’s mansion is anyone’s guess, but the royal couple’s allegedly seeking a new place to call home. The place they have their sights on is much cozier than Perry’s, granted… but it’s still just as luxurious. Located in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of L.A., we’re talking six bedrooms and baths, an outdoor pool and spa, and a lovely master bedroom balcony with a sweeping view of all of Los Angeles. It’s affordable too, which is important for the couple: only $13 million for 1.2 private acres, practically pocket change!

""

[post_page_title]Close to celebrities[/post_page_title]

For all their talk about returning to their “down to earth” roots, Harry and Meghan picked a location right in the very center of the city’s prestige and glamor. The gated Ridgeview Country Estates community is home to many of their richest and most celebrated peers, with every home inside custom-built for a minimum of $10 million, a fact the estate is pretty proud of. And even though this is a number many of us won’t make in our entire lifetimes, perhaps to the Sussexes it’s merely a return to minimalism and thrift…

[post_page_title]Family fun[/post_page_title]

With so much space available, the entire family will definitely feel at home at Meghan and Harry’s prospective new home. One room is already speculatively earmarked for Meghan’s mother’s personal use whenever she visits, and the rest of the rooms are divided up between the couple and their future children. There are plenty of entertainment options indoors and out, from the backyard pool to a movie theater room. In short, this is the perfect retreat for Harry and Meghan, both for their immediate seclusion needs, and for the many opportunities they anticipate in the future.

""

[post_page_title]A place to get away from it all[/post_page_title]

For Meghan and Harry, this new house is definitely a perfect match. Sprawling citrus trees decorate the crisply manicured lawn, giving an ambience perfect for relaxation. The carefully maintained privacy of the gated community means they can finally destress from their former royal life, possibly even taking a dip in the backyard pool without fearing gawking paparazzi. It’s a hidden sanctuary for a couple that definitely needs one. And of course, six bedrooms is the perfect size for a new family just starting to grow.

[post_page_title]Harry’s bachelor pad[/post_page_title]

Of course, shopping for houses is the final stage in the evolution of a couple’s relationship. Before that, long before that, Harry was living the single life at London’s Nottingham Cottage. The small property is located on the grounds of Kensington Palace, a short walk from William and Kate’s home on the other side of the gardens. Although the building was quaint, it suited the Prince’s needs perfectly. As a man-about-town, he didn’t need much space to roam around, especially if he was off dealing with his royal duties. However, that all changed after went on a blind date with one Meghan Markle.

""
Harry’s bachelor pad

[post_page_title]Love is in the air[/post_page_title]

That fateful blind date led to a spark being ignited that soon engulfed not just the Royal Family but the entire world. Their whirlwind romance made headlines all over the world, and it seemed people couldn’t get enough of Meghan and Harry, despite the fact Harry would likely never be king. Eventually, the two tied the knot in 2018, and it was finally time to settle down. Finding a place to do that in was certainly not a problem, since they had plenty of properties at their disposal.

""
Love is in the air

[post_page_title]Moving in together[/post_page_title]

At the rate that Harry and Meghan’s relationship blossomed, it quickly became clear that they were destined for each other. It wasn’t a huge surprise to see the two of them get engaged, but their upcoming union meant that they’d need somewhere suitable to live together. While Nottingham Cottage – or Nott Cott as they referred to it – would do before the big day, they’d eventually require somewhere that they could call their own. Nevertheless, two days after getting married, Meghan moved into the house and made do with its (relatively) humble size.

""
Moving in together

[post_page_title]Green thumb[/post_page_title]

One advantage of Nott Cott was its back yard. Granted, it wasn’t huge, but it was somewhere that Meghan could put her green thumb to work. Architectural Digest reported that the Duchess’ favorite flower is the peony, so there were expectations that some of those would be popping up around Harry’s former bachelor pad. The colors she chose would probably be a lot brighter than the ones her late mother-in-law picked. Princess Diana was also a fan of gardening in her spare time, but she preferred more neutral tones.

""
Green thumb

[post_page_title]Not up to scratch[/post_page_title]

Unfortunately, while Nott Cott offered somewhere to garden, it wouldn’t be suitable for the newlyweds once they started having children. The building only provided two bedrooms, meaning things would be tight for a growing family. What’s more, the house only offered one bathroom, and it didn’t even have air conditioning. Considering Harry’s standing as the Queen’s grandson, you’d think his digs would be a little more upmarket. Then again, this quaint little cottage just shows how down to earth this young Prince really is.

""
Not up to scratch

[post_page_title]A glimpse inside[/post_page_title]

Getting a look inside the house of a royal is incredibly tricky. They try to keep their properties secret for personal and security reasons, so we’re lucky if we even get a glimpse inside. The only time we’ve been able to see what Nott Cott’s interior looks like was during Harry and Meghan’s first television interview. The pair were filmed sitting on the couch in the Prince’s living room as they gushed over one another. Sadly, we probably won’t ever get to see the kitchen where Harry reportedly proposed.

[post_page_title]Preparing to move[/post_page_title]

While Nottingham Cottage had been Harry and Meghan’s home since the two tied the knot, it wouldn’t be for much longer. Reports soon started spreading the news that work was being carried out on Apartment 1 on the Kensington Palace estate, and so it did for much of 2018. This was apparently to get it ready for Harry and Meghan to move into so that they’d have more space to raise their family. According to the Daily Mail, this work was completed in early October 2018.

""

[post_page_title]Bigger and better things[/post_page_title]

Perhaps the biggest advantage of Apartment 1 over Nottingham Cottage is that it offers so much more space. The building boasts 21 rooms, a whopping 19 more than Harry and Meghan had in their previous abode. Finding somewhere for their kids to sleep certainly wouldn’t be a problem if the pair decided to have a large family. With so many rooms available, the couple’s potential new property was actually bigger than William and Kate’s, which only included 20. Speaking of Harry’s brother and sister-in-law…

[post_page_title]Meeting the neighbors[/post_page_title]

While the newlyweds were staying in Apartment 1, they had some very familiar neighbors. Their building was connected to William and Kate’s, meaning the two couples could be in close contact if they wanted to.
All of these properties are located on the grounds of Kensington Palace, a residence that has belonged to the British Royal Family since the 1600s. People like Princess Eugenie and her new husband, as well as the Duke and Duchess of Kent, make their home here, along with William and Kate. While the buildings these royals reside in are closed off from the public, other parts of Kensington Palace are open to visitors who want to see how the other half live.

[post_page_title]A lesson in history[/post_page_title]

Kensington Palace attracts a lot of tourists on a yearly basis, many of whom probably hope that they’ll get a glimpse of the people who live there. The ancient structure has been restored several times during its lifetime, with more recent efforts helping to bring the building into modern times. A lot of the rooms open to the public offer lessons on the palace and its royal inhabitants via interactive videos, helping to shed light on a vital part of Britain’s rich history.

""

[post_page_title]Looking into the countryside[/post_page_title]

Although plenty of reports suggested that Apartment 1 would be Harry and Meghan’s new official residence, the couple had other properties lined up too. Once the duo got engaged, they started looking at properties in the Cotswolds. The pair are both huge fans of the countryside, and the rustic appeal of Oxfordshire was right up their alley. Even if they didn’t live in the area permanently, having a property in the Cotswolds would still give them somewhere nice to spend their vacations.

""

[post_page_title]Taken off the market[/post_page_title]

One place that the couple was apparently interested in was Luckington Court. But the property, which was used in a TV adaptation of “Pride & Prejudice,” went off the market shortly after the pair announced their engagement. The 18th-century property looked every bit the part for a member of the royal family, even if the interior design didn’t quite match what Meghan was used to in her previous homes. We could have seen the couple living comfortably here.

[post_page_title]Making a decision[/post_page_title]

After taking their time to explore the Cotswolds and see if anything caught their eye, it seemed that Meghan and Harry had made a decision on the property front.
[post_page_title]Famous neighbors[/post_page_title]

The reports painted a picture that Meghan and Harry would be in safe hands whenever they stayed at their Cotswolds property. That’s because the Great Tew Estate is home to another of the world’s greatest power couples – Posh and Becks. Victoria and David Beckham own a $7.6 million mansion in the area and are friends with the Royals, something which people presumed would influence Harry and Meghan’s decision when getting their house. Royal fans where already imagining what a dinner party between those four would be like. Unfortunately, the reports proved to be false.

[post_page_title]Wedding present[/post_page_title]

You would think that with Nottingham Cottage and Apartment 1 at their disposal, the royal couple wouldn’t need any more properties. However, the Queen would disagree with you on that one. According to Mail Online, the pair were gifted Adelaide Cottage on the grounds of Windsor Castle following their wedding. Although the duo wasn’t allowed to accept gifts from their guests, it’s a different matter when it comes to family. If the Queen wants to give you a house, you can’t really turn her down, can you?

""

[post_page_title]Fit for a prince[/post_page_title]

If Harry and Meghan really have been gifted Adelaide Cottage, then they’re incredibly lucky. The building only underwent renovations back in 2015, and it boasts a very fanciful interior. The Daily Mail has revealed that the house includes features like a Graeco-Egyptian fireplace and ceilings decorated with gilded dolphins. It certainly sounds like a place befitting a royal couple. There’s one thing about Adelaide Cottage that really makes it stand out though.

""

[post_page_title]Some peace and quiet[/post_page_title]

Being such a sought after couple, Harry and Meghan have gotten used to being hounded by the media. They understand that it comes with being in the public eye, but that doesn’t mean they don’t value their privacy. That’s why this house on the grounds of Windsor Castle would be so convenient for the pair. The estate has a total of seven different private exits according to The Daily Mail, meaning it would be easy for the couple to get on and off the property without attracting loads of attention.

[post_page_title]The rumor mill[/post_page_title]

Another property that the Queen reportedly gifted Harry and Meghan was York Cottage over on the Sandringham estate. It wouldn’t be a massive surprise for the couple to have a house here given how dear Sandringham is to the royal family. However, it was soon revealed that the pair wouldn’t be packing their bags for Norfolk after all. A tweet by Royal expert Marlene Koenig clarified that no-one on the estate was aware of them taking over the property, especially given its proximity to the tourist path.

[post_page_title]Settling down[/post_page_title]

The couple eventually moved into their new digs at Kensington Palace. But with the confirmation that they were expecting a child in Spring 2019, it was again presumed that they would want to get themselves settled in somewhere bigger sooner rather than later. Although some of their other properties made for great vacation spots, the duo would require plenty of space for their growing family. They might not need quite as many as 21 rooms, but what can you do?

[post_page_title]Children are welcome[/post_page_title]

As for Kensington Palace, the massive estate within which Harry and Meghan’s Nottingham Cottage resided, you might take solace to know that it was very kid friendly. As you can see in this picture, there is a toy horse for young Prince George to ride at his disposal. It’s nice to see that the Royal homes have certain accommodations for the children, allowing them to have some fun. After all, when they step outside they stop being kids and start being public figures.

[post_page_title]Before her arrival[/post_page_title]

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of Meghan’s introduction to the Royal life is the fact that she’s giving her own taste of style to the fray of things. Here’s a perfect example of what we mean by that. This is a picture of a proper living room inside Nottingham Cottage – before Meghan joined. It certainly looks nice, but let’s just say it looks a lot different now – and you’re about to see the astonishing changes that Meghan made to it.

""
Before her arrival

[post_page_title]After her arrival[/post_page_title]

As you can see, after Meghan was done with it, the room looks quite different. The bare bones are basically the same, such as the proper placement of the couches, and the overall format of the room. But as far as the vibe goes, it looks like it’s been illuminated, and given a treatment of uber brightness. The vibrancy of the colors put you in a much better mood than they did before, and it’s clear that Meghan is giving Royal living a cool modern twist.

""

[post_page_title]Can’t get enough[/post_page_title]

Here’s another look at Nottingham Cottage from the outside. Although the pair ended up not living there for that long, it’s clear that the pad got a significant amount of attention. How could it not, with its inhabitants dominating the media tabloids from start to finish, and top to bottom? People really can’t get enough of these kids, and it’s the reason that fans will look for any unique viewpoint even remotely close to their home.

""
Can’t get enough

[post_page_title]What it represents[/post_page_title]

For instance, this picture here may not be of Nottingham Cottage itself, rather of its outer core, Kensington Palace – but Harry and Meghan were still associated with it during their time there. As far as anyone was concerned, this was their home – and it’s mainly because of the symbolism behind it. Think of Kensington Palace as a tree with strong roots, and Nottingham Cottage as a unique branch where they were allowed to flourish happily. You see what we mean?

""
What it represents

[post_page_title]Decadent beauty[/post_page_title]

Besides, you can’t really go wrong when it comes to Kensington Palace – practically every photo out there is an absolute stunner. The structured halls, the uniform-like exterior, the majestic works of art – the whole thing screams beauty. When Harry and Meghan walked outside their home and got to look at the building you see here, it was probably a nice feeling. As you can see here, there are people who marvel at it from the side, even ones not connected to the Royal family.

""
Decadent beauty

[post_page_title]The other one[/post_page_title]

Speaking of grandiose structures that make a statement… Remember when we said that thing about Adelaide Cottage, the home that the Queen was said to have given to Harry and Meghan? Well, given the fact that it’s located on the premises of Windsor Castle, we thought we’d show you just how breathtaking this castle can look. Indeed, this is one structure that is not intended to be taken lightly – so we suggest you take a deep breath, and exhale gently.

""
The other one

[post_page_title]Another level[/post_page_title]

As we near a little bit closer to Windsor Castle, it becomes even clearer just how monstrous of a structure it is. How would a young woman such as Meghan, who grew up in modest quarters, transition into living in a place like this? Granted, Adelaide Cottage would be undoubtedly smaller, but it is still part of the estate. Also, we acknowledge that Meghan was doing pretty well for herself once she became an actress – but still, it’s a pretty big change.

""
Another level

[post_page_title]Proper associations[/post_page_title]

Yep, that’s what we thought. It doesn’t matter that Meghan was an actress who made millions of dollars before she became part of the Royal family. It doesn’t matter that she had the means to provide herself with substantial living quarters back then. The fact of the matter is that she is now associated with the estate you see here. When you think of Meghan Markle for years to come, you’ll think of this house.

""
Proper associations

[post_page_title]Magical reference[/post_page_title]

In many ways, doesn’t Windsor Castle kind of remind you of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry? The castle from Harry Potter might be magical, and it might be fictional, but when we gaze out upon the beautiful creation you see here, doesn’t it seem so wonderful that it actually reminds you of it? It certainly appears magical, we’ll tell you that much. Imagine living in a place like that – or even remotely close to it.

As we noted earlier, there is yet another estate that may have been given to Harry and Meghan – York Cottage. This picture displays a better view of the river that resides adjacent to the cottage, showing just how serene the atmosphere would be if they made this place their new home. We can picture it now – Harry and Meghan spending lovely afternoons dipping their feet in this river, with Archie and maybe other children they might still have…

[post_page_title]On the inside[/post_page_title]

At the end of the day, it’s the love that Harry and Meghan feel for each other that makes their home the most special. We’ve all heard the saying that it’s “what’s on the inside that counts,” and nowhere is that saying more appropriate than here. No matter where they decide to live, their spirit and positive energy will be what sets the tone within their humble abodes – and we can’t wait to see how they channel it. Still, we can’t help but wonder about what might have been…

[post_page_title]Meghan goes (to her second) home[/post_page_title]

Before sources close to the couple revealed their plans to take root in Los Angeles, Meghan and Harry were said to be eyeing Canada for their relocation. After all, Canada is part of the British Commonwealth and also where Meghan filmed legal drama Suits. So where would they have lived? According to The Sun, the two first ogled one particular place in Vancouver. Available for only $35.5 million, this magnificent waterfront residence has four levels, six bedrooms, and five bathrooms. It’s located on Vancouver’s Golden Mile, the city’s most exclusive driveway, so Meghan and Harry wouldn’t stick out.

Despite the persistent rumors and speculation that they would first move to California, which of course eventually turned out to be true, the power couple did temporarily settle on a lovely manor in Canada known as Mille Fleurs, French for “Thousand Flowers.” The gorgeous setting certainly had plenty of ways to inspire them to bloom, with eight bedrooms, a huge living room, and even its very own pizza oven!
Vancouver is known for its exceptionally cold winters, so of course Meghan and Harry didn’t always want to step outside to take in the views. Fortunately, the Mille Fleurs boasted wall-to-wall panoramic windows, so that they could enjoy the outdoors cozied up to a beautiful and historic fireplace. First installed in the 17th century, the imported French brickwork has been maintained for over 400 years. Never fear, though – there are many modern conveniences as well, but they are all hidden carefully to maintain a timeless sense of majesty and glamorous appeal.

You can’t talk about the location without gushing over the amazing views of the Saanich Inlet, one of Vancouver’s more incredible natural attractions. Indeed, many rich and famous people settle there just for the scenery, and as a result the “Golden Mile” around it is incredibly secure. With gated access roads and private security always on-site, Meghan and Harry never found themselves having to worry about snoopy reporters or adoring fans of the couple constantly stopping in to say hello.
