\nIn order to really grab our attentions, a movie needs to have an interesting premise. However, there have been times where filmmakers have taken things extremely far in that regard, coming up with some truly outrageous concepts. This isn’t to say that they were bad movies. On the contrary, there have been some excellent movies with ridiculous concepts. Of course, there have also been some strange films that didn’t exactly do too well. For your reading pleasure, we are going to cover both – the crazy ideas that worked, and the ones that did not.

\nThe title may not indicate much strangeness, but anyone who\u2019s seen the movie knows how ridiculous the premise of it is (however successful it may have been).

\nThe story revolves around John Bennett, played by Mark Wahlberg, who makes a wish as a child for his stuffed teddy bear to be real. His wish comes true, with the emergence of Ted, voice by Seth MacFarlane, taking the world by storm with his antics and causing controversial debates among the crazed media as well.

\nThe title alone pretty much says it all, but it also makes you raise an eyebrow.

\nHere\u2019s the thing: people like to joke about dangerous fictional scenarios, but when it comes to flying on a plane, people don\u2019t like to joke about that. Simply the concept of having snakes on a plane is enough to make anyone squirm – especially because not every plane is lucky enough to have an amped up Samuel L. Jackson firing up a storm and making his presence known.

\nAlthough there is a sweet innocence to this movie, its level of outrageousness is on another level.

\nHenry Rowengartner, a young kid with a love for baseball, is hospitalized and upon leaving discovers that he has a freakish ability to throw a baseball extremely fast. He then proceeds to join the Chicago Cubs, where the line between young child and national superstar gets blurred in more ways than one. But hey, at least Gary Busey is in the film.

\nThis movie takes the concept of time travel and pretty much runs with it however it sees fit, even when the magical time machine happens to be a hot tub.

It revolves around a group of middle aged men who enjoy a hot tub together, only to get transported back to their high school days, where they can then decide if they want to change the past, and strangely enough, enjoy their new futures as a result.

\nWouldn\u2019t you agree that this movie looks absolutely ridiculous just from this picture? We think so too.

\nIn this case, we have a movie about aliens who\u2019ve decided to invade earth and dress themselves up in clown makeup, as if it\u2019s the most horrific Halloween of all time. As if things couldn\u2019t get any weirder, they then proceed to trap the humans in cocoons made out of cotton candy. Yes, you heard us correctly.

\nHere\u2019s a title that sounds strange right off the bat, but it\u2019s even stranger when you watch the film.

\nIt stars Matthew McConaughey, whos portrays a long time ladies man who must now confront the \u201cghosts\u201d of all the women he\u2019s ever scorned from romance. It\u2019s just about as crazy as it sounds, but at least there\u2019s a heartfelt rom-com angle to it as well. Jennifer Garner portrays the \u201cone that got away,\u201d and it\u2019s up to him to confront his demons and finally make it work with her.

\nAnother extremely successful movie, and a strong highlight of the strong career of the late comic genius, Robin Williams.

Desperate to see his kids more often, he creates an impressive female body suit, where he assumes the identity of \u201cMrs. Doubtfire.\u201d Having fooled everyone, he then becomes his children\u2019s nanny, leading to all kinds of crazy shenanigans.

\nWhen you first start watching this movie, you might think it\u2019s an innocent movie about a group of young teenagers who enjoy surfing.

\nAfter a while though, you come to realize that there\u2019s a lot more going on – like the fact that these surfers are in fact heirs to an ancient throne called Patusan. Oh yeah, and now they must protect this particular kingdom from an evil tyrant named Colonel Chi. Yep, this movie\u2019s premise is totally normal.

\nOut of all the titles on this list, this is certainly one of the most ridiculous. We\u2019ve gotten a bunch of weird ones, but this is right up there.

\nRight, so\u2026 Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. There really aren\u2019t any conceptual parallels going on here – this is literally what happens in the movie. Tomatoes have somehow found a way to be sentient beings, and they now possess a freakish agenda to destroy human beings. It\u2019s quite the party.

\nMany of us were subjected to overprotective parents, but the main character of this film beats us all by a landslide.

\nJimmy Livingston, who\u2019s played by Jake Gyllenhaal, is placed in a \u201cbubble\u201d by his mother from the day he was born. His mother does this as an attempt to protect him from the dangers of the outside world, and he can never leave the house as a result. The concept is pretty crazy, although we admit that it does reflect bluntly on certain cultures.

\nAhh, good old Air Bud. Did someone call the 90s nostalgia parade? Because we can hear it coming to town, in the form of one of the most talented dogs to ever grace this earth.

\nWe kid you not, Air Bud was a fictional dog who had this strange ability to play basketball, football, soccer, and baseball with ease. Opposing teams were left dumbstruck when Air Bud would score on them, and considering the absurdity of the film, we don\u2019t blame them.

\nBased on the title, you might be trying to rack your brain as to what the concept of this movie is. But the reality is more strange than you could possibly imagine.

\nSo Scott Pilgrim (played by Michael Cera) meets the girl of his dreams, and all seems well. Of course, he then realizes that he must \u201cbattle\u201d each of her seven ex-boyfriends in order to win her over. If you think the concept in strange, just watch how weirdly it plays out in the film.

\nThere is a fine line between humor and racism – and this movie dances on the line like it\u2019s not really sure it\u2019s there.

\nIn the movie, a spoiled white kid is determined to get into Harvard – but he then finds out that the only way he can get in is if he paints his skin black. He proceeds to masquerade as an African American, and let\u2019s just say it doesn\u2019t exactly go right for him. More importantly, audiences weren\u2019t so sure how to react.

\nWe\u2019ve all been there, right? You walk by a clothing store, you see a mannequin, you find them attractive, and before you know it, you\u2019re in love.

\nNo, that was a joke – none of us have been there. However, that is exactly what this strange film is about. After a young man comes upon a mannequin he designed, she comes to life and the pair end up falling in love. Interestingly enough, the movie did well enough for them to make a sequel.

\nThere\u2019s nothing worse than little pests who roam your hallways and drive you to the brink of craziness – but none of them even compare to the ones in Joe\u2019s Apartment.

\nThis movie centers around a group of cockroaches who set up camp in Joe\u2019s pad and make themselves a little too comfortable, if you catch our drift. They make dirty jokes, they have parties, and they even intervene with Joe scoring with the ladies. Certainly not your typical insects.

\nThe Shining is one of the most popular and iconic horror films of all time, and yet the premise is practically as ridiculous as can be.

\nIt centers around Jack Torrance, played by Jack Nicholson, who gets a job as a caretaker for a hotel in Colorado, where he takes his family. The hotel seems isolated, but this is certainly not the case. Soon enough Jack begins go mad within its walls, and the movie only gets more outrageous with every scene.

\nThis film really does take the cake – it\u2019s about a tire. But not just any tire. It\u2019s a tire that has a desire to kill people, and actually has the capabilities of doing so.

\nDue to its psychic abilities, the tire certainly catches a bunch of people off guard – including the audience. Let\u2019s just say it feels like the filmmakers just chose a random car part and decided to give it powers. Alas, we may never look at car tires the same way again.

\nWe\u2019ve all have that crazy friend who not only shares a lot of our interests, but is also a duck. Yeah, not so much.

But when he gets sent to earth, plays music, has intimate romantic relations with a woman, and saves the world, we\u2019re not really sure how we\u2019re supposed to feel about him.

\nThis movie kind of reinforces the idea of belief, and the power of wishing for something – although it takes this idea further than you might ever expect.

\nSimilar to Ted, Timmy Green comes into existence by springing out of a \u201cbox of wishes\u201d inside a couple\u2019s backyard. Indeed, the film is certainly a bit crazy, but it actually has some heartfelt moments as well. It certainly cuts to the core for parents who are childless, but desperate for one.

\nThis movie really gets going when a shy man commits an act of heroism, by saving a damsel in distress from being attacked.

In addition to the fact that the couple are in love, the man also has the heart of a baboon. Yeah\u2026 let that sink in for a bit while you try to figure out what in the world is going on.

\nThis movie is very wacky, but it also holds elements of creepy and scary in there as well. In a nutshell, the movie pretty much goes like this.

He had a crush on her from the start, but the lengths he goes to make her like him in return seem a bit excessive, wouldn\u2019t you say?

\nThis is one film that people certainly haven\u2019t forgotten over the years – for better or worse.

This leads to some truly ridiculous scenes, including a romantic date (not to mention an intimate scene) involving a woman and the man who has been deceased. Yeah, it\u2019s a pretty weird movie.
