There are all kinds of uncomfortable things that Hollywood stars have been required to do over the years, and many of these experiences have stayed with them. Whether it be an emotional issue, a sensitive topic, or a physically gross moment, some stars have truly regretted the things they’ve had to do to earn those big bucks.
[post_page_title]Jennifer Lawrence – Passengers[/post_page_title]
There are all kinds of methods actors can use to loosen themselves up when they are required to shoot a scene that makes them uncomfortable.
A married man

In the case of Jennifer Lawrence, she was required to shoot a romantically intimate scene with Chris Pratt in the movie Passengers, and in order to deal with it, she had a few drinks. Her main issue was the fact that Pratt was married in real life, and she admits to feeling guilty about it.
[post_page_title]Michael Fassbender – X-Men Days of Future Past[/post_page_title]
Have you ever heard the saying, “We are our harshest critic?” Well, it is a real thing, and it is certainly real for the likes of Michael Fassbender, portrayer of a young Magneto in the recent X-Men films.
The perfectionist

There was one scene in X-Men: Days of Future Past where Magneto gets particularly angry at Charles Xavier. Everyone thought it was an incredible performance, but Fassbender didn’t agree, finding it cringe worthy and simply a “dude shouting.”

[post_page_title]Eva Mendes – Once Upon a Time in Mexico[/post_page_title]
When Eva Mendes shot a kissing scene with her longtime crush, Johnny Depp, it wasn’t that she regretted doing the scene – it was that she regretted how she did it.
Does he like me?

As we just noted, she had been into Johnny for quite some time, and when their kiss scene finally came she grew very intimidated by him. She wished that the kiss could’ve been drawn out a lot longer, and she wished that fateful moment could’ve gone a bit differently.
[post_page_title]Sharon Stone – Basic Instinct[/post_page_title]
Those who have seen the film Basic Instinct know that there is quite a bit of extra skin that is revealed in a particular scene where Sharon Stone’s character is getting interrogated – and she “unravels” her legs.
The unraveling

The scene ended up being highly controversial though, especially because Stone didn’t realize she would be “seen” the way she did. Director Paul Verhoeven initially told her that it would be left out, and it was only when she saw the final product that she knew the truth, and slapped Verhoeven.

[post_page_title]Kate Winslet – Titanic[/post_page_title]
Perhaps one of Kate Winslet’s most iconic scenes is in Titanic, where she asks Leonardo DiCaprio’s character to “draw her like one of his French girls.”
No more autographs

However, it turned out that the scene’s popularity started making Winslet uncomfortable over the years, for one reason in particular: To this day, people still walk up to her and ask her to autograph a picture of her in that scene – and she always declines. Honestly, we see where she’s coming from.
[post_page_title]Taylor Lautner – Twilight[/post_page_title]
Taylor Lautner, who plays the werewolf known as Jacob in the well known Twilight series, is well remembered for a number of scenes where he must take his shirt off.
Not just a body

However, he eventually grew sick of doing it, convinced that fans stopped focusing on his talents as an actor. Taylor said that if he had to choose, he would never take his shirt off in a movie again, and that he doesn’t want to be “just a body.”

[post_page_title]Emilia Clarke – Game of Thrones[/post_page_title]
For all of you Game of Thrones fans, you’ll surely remember the scene where Daenerys Targaryen AKA Khaleesi, played by Emilia Clarke, walks out of the temple of Dosh Khaleen with nothing on.
Awkward moment

When she filmed it, Emilia didn’t think too much of it. Of course, there was certainly a level of discomfort she felt when she watched that very episode with her parents. Something tells us that family dinners weren’t quite the same after that.
[post_page_title]Ellen Page – Juno[/post_page_title]
We all loved Juno when it first came out, and one of the reasons was that Ellen Page’s character had a snarky wit that was refreshing for the moviegoer to see.
Can we have a rewrite?

However, there was one line from the movie that Juno said that Page regretted years later. It was a joke about the LGBT community, and considering the fact that Page herself is a member, it makes sense that she felt sensitive about what she’d said years later.

[post_page_title]Chris Hemsworth – Thor: Ragnarok[/post_page_title]
As was the case with Taylor Lautner, Chris Hemsworth also didn’t like having to frequently take his shirt off for the entertainment of others.
Thor fed up

After having to do it for Thor: The Dark World, he was told that he wouldn’t have to do it in the next one, Thor: Ragnarok. But to no avail – director Joss Whedon eventually told him to show those abs, saying, “I think we need to put some bums into seats.” Well Chris, whatever pays the bills, right?
[post_page_title]Josh Brolin – Avengers: Infinity War[/post_page_title]
When Josh Brolin appeared as Thanos in the recent Avengers: Infinity War film, his character was set to bring out the demise of a whole lot of people.
Sympathy for Loki

One of the very first characters he killed was the infamous Loki, who had finally started to lighten up. However, Brolin himself said that he didn’t enjoy doing the scene. “He had been with that character for so long,” Brolin said, admitted that it wasn’t fun being the one to end it for him.

[post_page_title]Zoey Deutch – Set It Up[/post_page_title]
Here’s an uncomfortable circumstance you don’t hear about too often. When Zoey Deutch filmed a scene with Glen Powell in Netflix’s Set It Up, their characters were sitting down and eating pizza.
One more pizza

But due to the fact that they did a number of takes, they were required to eat that pizza – over and over again. Powell spaced it out nicely, but Zoey ended up eating four whole pies, making her eventually throw it all up in between scenes.

[post_page_title]Dakota Johnson – Fifty Shades of Grey[/post_page_title]
Everyone knows that Fifty Shades of Grey isn’t exactly the most appropriate film on the planet. It’s certainly not something you would go watch with your parents willingly.
Fifty levels of discomfort

This makes sense to us as members of the audience, but what about the actors? Apparently, Dakota Johnson said that the filming of the “intimate” scenes were “not very comfortable.” She said it was “emotionally taxing,” and quite miserable for her too – until she decided to just get it over with.

[post_page_title]Nicole Kidman – Big Little Lies[/post_page_title]
Whether it be fictional or real, domestic abuse is not something to joke about.
Emotionally affected

And therefore, when Nicole Kidman was forced to shoot domestic abuse scenes while working on Big Little Lies, she was quite shaken up from the whole ordeal. In fact, she admitted later that the whole experience had left her emotionally drained and deeply affected. Director Jean-Marc Vallée ended up placing a towel on her head between scenes because of how stressed she seemed.

[post_page_title]Margot Robbie – Suicide Squad[/post_page_title]
When it comes to the characters from DC Comics, Margot Robbie’s portrayal of Harley Quinn is among the best entertainment you’re going to see.
Gooey Quinn

But if you ask Robbie herself, playing the part was certainly no walk in the park. Besides the fact that she hated wearing Harley’s revealing outfit, she was also required to film a scene where she falls into a vat of chemical goo. She said it was the “most unpleasant” thing she’d ever done in her entire life.

[post_page_title]Terence Stamp – Star Wars: The Phantom Menace[/post_page_title]
Star Wars: The Phantom Menace was a pretty awesome film, but Terence Stamp was a little bit disappointed with how things went at one point.
Missing actress

He had very much been looking forward to work with Natalie Portman, who was portraying Queen Amidala, but when he showed up on set, she was nowhere to be found. In her stead was a sheet of paper that he was expected to run the dialogue with – and needless to say he was disappointed.

[post_page_title]Jim Carrey – Kick-Ass 2 (2013)[/post_page_title]
Jim Carrey also was one who felt the pangs of regret after filming a certain scene – and for him it was in the action film Kick-Ass 2 (2013).
Change of heart

He had filmed a scene which involved a fair amount of violence, a trait that the rest of the movie had as well. A few months later, Carrey publicly denounced how much violence the film had, in light of the tragic event that had taken place in real life, at Sandy Hook elementary school.

[post_page_title]Helen Mirren – Age of Consent[/post_page_title]
Back in Helen Mirren’s younger days, she was cast in a number of roles that required her to have a scene or two where she would be completely exposed, like in Age of Consent.
Helen hung up

At the time everyone thought she was okay with it, but years later she informed everyone that this was far from the case. In fact, a 72-year-old Mirren said that “it has never been a comfortable thing,” and that she “never enjoyed it.” She added that it was “mortifying,” and that she now regrets it.

[post_page_title]Mary-Louise Parker – Weeds[/post_page_title]
Here’s another actress who wasn’t too happy about a scene she was forced to that involved her exposing herself.
Mad Mary

Mary-Louise Parker, the star of Weeds, was asked to do a particular bathtub scene, and she fought with the director over her being able to keep her clothes on during that scene. She eventually relented, and she has admitted that today she is “bitter” about it. She “knew it was going to be on the internet,” and that made it even harder.

[post_page_title]Natalie Portman – Hotel Chevalier[/post_page_title]
Natalie Portman has been in her fair share of films, and a Wes Anderson short film called Hotel Chevalier was one of them.
Portman not pleased

It was in the early stages of her career, and she was still trying to learn the ropes in the Hollywood industry. She too was asked to do a scene where she was exposed, and to this day she kind of wishes she hadn’t done it. She later said that she was sorry that “she didn’t listen to her intuition.”

[post_page_title]Burt Reynolds – Deliverance[/post_page_title]
Back in the 70s, the late Burt Reynolds wasn’t about to let a dummy steal his big scene in the movie Deliverance.
I’m no dummy

His character was set to go down a waterfall, but instead of allowing a non-breathing dummy go down instead, he opted to do the dangerous scene himself. The result? Reynolds shattering his own tailbone, hitting his head and shoulder on a rock, and ending up in a hospital with a world of pain to deal with.

[post_page_title]Bruce Campbell – Evil Dead II[/post_page_title]
On the set for the movie Evil Dead II, there was quite a lot of fake blood being used – and Bruce Campbell, the star of the film, was on the wrong end of it all.
Karo syrup party

The fake blood was in fact Karo syrup, which not only was a huge attraction for flies, but it was very unpleasant to have on your skin. There was one particular scene where Campbell was literally covered with 55 gallons of fake blood – and he says he “lived to tell the tale.”

[post_page_title]Maria Schneider – Last Tango In Paris[/post_page_title]
This may be one of the most criticized scenes ever, and certainly one of the biggest regrets an actress ever had.
Mortified Maria

On the set of 1972’s Last Tango In Paris, Maria Schneider was told that a scene would be improvised, but she had no idea what was about to take place. She had no idea that Marlon Brando would be putting butter on her body very inappropriately, to say the least. Schneider has felt emotional trauma to this day because of that scene.

[post_page_title]Eva Green – The Dreamers[/post_page_title]
Yet again we have a young woman who made the decision to reveal herself in front of the camera, even though she was unsure about doing it at the time.
Troubled Eva

This time it was Eva Green, and the scene she regrets filming was in a film called The Dreamers. She would later confess to the public that doing it was “very troubling,” and she made sure not to ever do it again after that. We totally get where she’s coming from.

[post_page_title]George Reeves – Superman[/post_page_title]
The Man of Steel has gone through many different adaptations over the years, and one of them was the George Reeves version in the 50s Superman television show.
Not bulletproof

But there was one real life occurrence when Reeves showed up to an event in a Superman costume, and a young boy confronted him with a gun, asking if he was truly bulletproof. Reeves was quite shaken, and resolved to never wear his uniform in public again. He also began to advise against the portrayal of bulletproof characters, deeming it unsafe for their real-life counterparts.

[post_page_title]Sean Connery – James Bond[/post_page_title]
As much as we all love to hail the James Bond films like they are the stuff of legend, the people who made those movies don’t necessarily feel the same way.
Self-hating Bond

In fact, Sean Connery himself, the man responsible for one of the best Bonds we’ve ever seen, ended up regretted filming the character, and said that he wished he could kill the real James Bond if he actually existed in reality. Sounds like someone certainly didn’t buy the video game.

[post_page_title]Tony Curtis – Some Like It Hot[/post_page_title]
Tony Curtis had a famous scene in the movie Some Like It Hot in which he got to kiss Marilyn Monroe – but while most people assumed that he enjoyed it, he said that this wasn’t the case.
Some don’t like it

Indeed, he wasn’t exactly happy about the scene – which is surprising, because it’s something most guys would’ve loved to do. In later years, he tried to make it seem like he was kidding, but people weren’t sure what to believe by then.

[post_page_title]David Spade – Grown Ups[/post_page_title]
Let’s just say that women are the only ones who have regretted showing certain intimate body parts on screen.
Spade scorned

This time it was comedic actor David Spade, who showed his behind in the movie Grown Ups, in which he starred alongside fellow actors Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, and Kevin James. After seeing it on screen, he joked, “Girls have put up with this for years?” He may have been laughing, but he admitted he wished he’d gotten a body double.

[post_page_title]Ben Stiller – Along Came Polly[/post_page_title]
Similar to his fellow actor David Spade, Ben Stiller also was involved in a scenario in which his behind was left exposed to the public.
Along came regret

In the film Along Came Polly in which Stiller starred alongside actress Jennifer Aniston, director John Hamburg promised that they’d cut the scene if people didn’t laugh during pre-screenings. The truth is that Stiller apparently didn’t know he was allowed a body double, and expressed later that he totally would’ve gone that route in retrospect.

[post_page_title]Jessica Brown Findlay – Albatross[/post_page_title]
This time it’s the lovely Jessica Brown Findlay who later was annoyed at herself for shooting a particular scene.
Albatross anger

On set for the movie Albatross, she too was asked if she could be without a top during a scene, and she actually didn’t know that she was allowed to refuse. She also thought that they were filming her from behind, and she only discovered later that this wasn’t the case. “It’s not something I would do again,” Jessica said.

[post_page_title]Denzel Washington – The Equalizer[/post_page_title]
Denzel Washington is known for the various action roles he’s played over the years, and generally he plays the type of character you don’t want to mess with.
Wet on set

Such is the case also in The Equalizer, a film where he gets into his fair share of scuffles with a number of Russian gangsters. However, there was a scene where he looks particularly impressive, dominating his opponents while getting soaked in the rain – but the problem was that he absolutely hated having to get constantly wet on set.

[post_page_title]Kurt Russell – The Hateful Eight[/post_page_title]
In this Quentin Tarantino film called The Hateful Eight, there was one scene that made music fans all across the world cringe in their seats.
Russell smash

Jennifer Jason Leigh’s character was playing a folk ballad on an old guitar, and Kurt Russell’s character, thinking the guitar was a cheap prop, smashed it to bits. He couldn’t have been more wrong, given that the guitar was in fact a $40,000 ancient relic from the 1860s. Russell cried when he found out what he had done.

[post_page_title]Gordon Ramsay – Hotel Hell[/post_page_title]
Who said that chefs aren’t partial to their own dose of occasional regrets?
Ramsay regret

Chef master Gordon Ramsay probably rarely makes mistakes when it comes to matters of the kitchen, but when he was filming his reality TV series Hotel Hell in 2012, he filmed a scene which he later wished he hadn’t. It was an intimate shower scene while visiting a hotel, and he later apologized to the world for it. He clearly was pretty upset about it himself.

[post_page_title]Emma Watson and Rupert Grint – Harry Potter[/post_page_title]
When we watched Ron and Hermione share a passionate kiss in the final Harry Potter film, it was a proud moment for all of us.
Swish and flick

Ron and Hermione had been building up a romantic tension for years, and had truly been aching to get it out. However, this feeling was a less sweet for the actors in real life. They always saw themselves as good friends, and nothing more. Although most guys would love to kiss Emma Watson, apparently Rupert Grint didn’t enjoy it too much. And neither did she.

[post_page_title]Julia Roberts – Pretty Woman[/post_page_title]
When Julia Roberts was cast in Pretty Woman, she was just 21-years-old and a relatively unknown actress. She was excited about the film until it came time for her first love scene.
Performance anxiety

Apparently, she was so anxious that a vein showed up on her forehead. She was treated to a forehead massage until the vein disappeared, but the nerves didn’t. She was still so anxious that she broke out in hives! Needless to say, that delayed the scene even more.

[post_page_title]Margot Robbie – Wolf of Wall Street[/post_page_title]
While on the topic of Margot Robbie, there was another scene that was unpleasant for her to film, but for another reason. Yes, we’re talking about THAT scene from Wolf of Wall Street, which she co-starred with Leo DiCaprio.
30 men watching

Robbie recently said in an interview that she felt extremely embarrassed and uncomfortable during this part because it’s rather intimate and there were literally 30 men from the crew just standing around and watching her as she performed this scene to the best of her ability.

When an actor is in the middle of filming a scene on set, it can be very taxing for a number of reasons.
