\nOur favorite television and movie duos aren’t easily forgotten. They inspire us to that special buddy in our lives that we want to scheme, party, and plan important events with. Without inside jokes and someone special to “get you” in an abnormal way, what would be the point of friendship? These famous duos will always remind us what kind of friends we really need in our lives.
\n[post_page_title]Back To The Future: Doc Brown and Marty McFly[\/post_page_title]
\nThe Back to the Future franchise spawned one of the most unexpected friendships of all time, but only in the best of ways. Doc Brown and Marty McFly were the 80’s dream team that made time travel possible and each half of the duo went to great lengths to secure each other’s future and past. Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd are still recognized as the iconic characters today and made a dent in film history as one of the greatest on-screen pairs of all time in literally, anytime. Past, future, and present.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]Seinfeld: Jerry and George Costanza [\/post_page_title]
\nOne of the most successful television shows of all time, presented the world with one of the greatest duos of all time. George Costanza and Jerry Seinfeld may have had their differences in terms of character traits but deep down, they have a few common interests. George is slightly sociopathic, completely neurotic, cheap, and at times, acts in an outlandish manner. Jerry. for the most part, is indifferent when it comes to drama and remains grounded in most dramatic situations. Together, the contrast makes great entertainment and a hilarious friendship.

\n
\n[post_page_title]Gilmore Girls: Lorelai and Rory Gilmore[\/post_page_title]
\nLorelai and Rory Gilmore made mother-daughter relationships stronger everywhere through the use of witty conversation, sarcastic quips, and heart to heart discussions. What makes them one of the greatest tv duos of all time isn’t necessarily their made-up lingo or amazing taste in midnight snacks, though. What makes the Gilmore ladies so iconic is their ability to fight, make-up, fight again, and still be able to support one other’s choices and opinions without judgment or disregard. No one can ever get enough of the Gilmore Girls and we can certainly understand why.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]The X-Files: Fox Mulder and Dana Scully[\/post_page_title]
\nMulder and Scully teased their audiences for the entire series run of The X-Files. The balance between the two paranormal detectives was mostly beneficial to their relationship; Mulder was the naive believer and Scully was the cynical skeptic. Everyone could see that regardless of their seldom arguing and disagreements, they belonged with one another. The make out as one of the greatest duos in tv history because they’re a tried and true of longtime friends taking their feelings to their next level. Let’s just hope the chemistry is still there, especially with the 2016 reboot that recently aired.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]Absolutey Fabulous: Patsy Stone and Edina Monsoon [\/post_page_title]
\nAbsolutely Fabulous turned Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley into the tv characters you loved no matter how vulgar, intoxicated, and insensitive they were. The British duo ran about London in their desire apparel spending money they didn’t have, stalking celebrities that came to town, and attending parties restricted to young adults 20 years their junior. Still, Eddie and Patsy were who you and your best friend wanted to be. They always had fun, they didn’t what made them happy, and refused to let anyone boss them around – including Eddie’s overly-responsible daughter, Saffy.

\n
\n[post_page_title]Law & Order SVU: Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler [\/post_page_title]
\nBefore Detective Elliot Stabler broke longtime fans’ hearts by leaving Law & Order: SVU, he and Olivia Benson were the fantasy of what every crime-fighting cop should be. They were dedicated to their job, saved lives on a daily basis, and brought perps to justice after hours of manhunting and putting themselves in grave danger. And let’s not forget, everyone and anyone who loved the detective duo always dreamed of them getting together. They would have been the perfect pair! It never happened but hey, the show is still running and you never know if a Stabler return is planned for the future.

\n
\n[post_page_title]Hot Fuzz: Nicholas Angel and Danny Butterman[\/post_page_title]
\nNicholas Angel and Danny Butterman are a rare commodity in the world of comedy. In hot Fuzz, they’re two well, able-bodied policemen who work together to solve a murder mystery, share an intensive cop bromance, and battle the community watch to protect the claim on their turf. The satire is just another one of the classics from the Simon Pegg – Nick Frost duo, who saw success with Shaun of the Dead a few years earlier. They make the list of greatest duos because of their versatility. Is there any role they can’t execute perfectly? Apparently not.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]Game of Thrones: Arya Stark and The Hound[\/post_page_title]
\nArya Stark and The Hound of Game of Thrones weren’t a great duo because they cared about each other and shared mutual interests. They were a phenomenal on-screen pair because of their deep resentment for one another as they traveled in search of The Lannisters or Starks. Watching Arya become a hostage of one of the men on her “hit list” was anticipating and at time, fairly suspenseful. Along the way, we saw their hatred for one another lessen with experience and time, but not enough for Arya to stick around when The Hound was brutally beaten by Brianne of Tarth and left to die.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]Bonnie & Clyde: Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow[\/post_page_title]
\nHollywood’s version of Bonne & Clyde may have strayed from the real life “thing” but Faye Dunaway Warren Beatty introduced the characters to their audience in an astounding way. Not only was the concept of dangerous love a major factor in the duo’s success, the idea that a woman could be the one to make drag the man down the rabbit hole of crime was a refreshing change from the usual bad boy, good girl movies released at the time. Bonnie and Clyde went down together, giving ride or die a meaning before the expression was even coined.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]Star Wars: Han Solo and Chewbacca [\/post_page_title]
\nSome may argue that Han Solo and Princess Leia were greatest Star Wars duo to be created, but we beg to differ. Han and Chewie are the real on-screen love affair that made a lasting impact on the franchise in terms of friendship of loyalty. Chewbacca was the large, furry, Wookie bodyguard we all wish we had if we were international space smugglers. These two men (if you can call Chewie a man), were each other’s confidantes and entered every battle watching each other’s backs. There is no Han without Chewie. And now, unfortunately, we’ll get to find out what life is like for Chewbacca without Han.

\n
\n[post_page_title]Pulp Fiction: Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield [\/post_page_title]
\nQuentin Tarantino’s breakout film took two veteran Hollywood actors and not only made them relevant again, reminded audiences what they loved about them in the first place. Vincent Vega, played by John Travolta, and Jules Winnfield, played by Samuel L. Jackson, were fairly efficient hitmen. They got the job done, they intimidated their victims, and Vincent Vega definitely knew how to bust a move on the dance floor. Their methods, however, were a bit unconventional and often enough, they were loose on the trigger. In the end, they had thought-provoking conversations and seemed to be well-informed when it came to cultural affairs. This makes them the nest hitmen duo we’ve ever seen.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]Dumb & Dumber: Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne[\/post_page_title]
\nJim Carrey and Jeff Daniels were able to create two ludicrous characters with legendary statuses that carried on for almost two decades. Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne became cult phenomenon’s, inspiring Halloween costumes, pick-up lines, and a prequel that was eventually followed by another sequel. One of these classic characters doesn’t exist without the other, just like their matching suits. Carrey and Daniels managed to revolutionize the concept of “stupid humor,” which ultimately, spread like wild fire and inspired films like Anchorman and Stuck On You.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]The Big Bang Theory: Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler[\/post_page_title]
\nWe don’t necessarily want to have a relationship like Amy Farrah Fowler’s and Sheldon Cooper’s but watching them on television makes us pray that they never break up again. The scientific, hardly-romantic duo make it seem like a good idea to draw up relationship agreements and plan a weekly date night, especially when we consider the longevity of their relationship and how well they get along on a daily basis. They’re ultimate televised pair because they’re extremely hilarious. Not to mention, they’re the\u00a0definition of the concept “meant for each other.”
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]Friends: Chandler Bing and Joey Tribbiani[\/post_page_title]
\nThe main reason Joey and Chandler’s friendships makes the list of greatest duos of all time is because out of all the characters on Friends, they remained consistent throughout the show’s 10-year run. These two dudes never faltered, not even for a second. They had their casual tiffs and sure, they disagreed here and there. But, their friendship never changed or was permanently altered because of an argument or a failed attempt at romance (looking at you, Rachel and Ross). They were also the funniest pair on the show when they teamed up; they were like the adult version of Cory and Shawn from Boy Meets World. More on them later.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]The Fast & Furious: Dominic Toretto and Brian O\u2019Connor[\/post_page_title]
\nIt’s hard not to get emotional when we talk about Dom Torretto and Brian O’Conner from the Fast and Furious franchise. In the films, these men became brothers and pulled off some of the greatest drag racing and illegal jobs seen on the big screen. In real life, their friendship was just as tight and the death of Paul Walker impacted Vin Diesel greatly. Their criminal pairing made the Fast franchise what it was, and of course, the romance between Mia and Brian will be forever missed. Without Brian beside Dom’s side, there’s definitely something missing from the cast.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]I Love Lucy: Lucy Ricardo and Ethel Mertz[\/post_page_title]
\nLucy Ricardo and Ethel Mertz are the textbook example of sitcom best friendship. They’re wild, outrageous, curious, and always getting into trouble. which technically makes them unintentional rebels at heart. Their endearing personalities aren’t the only reason they’re one of the greatest duos of all time, though. Despite the fact that they’re both married, these two best friends still make each other a priority and don’t let their connection fall to the wayside just because they’ve met their male counterparts. That’s true female partnership at its finest.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]Will & Grace: Karen Walker and Jack McFarland[\/post_page_title]
\nKaren Walker and Jack McFarland are without a doubt, a part of the most fantastic cast ensembles of all time. However, without Jack and Karen, Will and Grace would be struggling to fill a very large, empty void in their lives. Karen Walker is an alcoholic, materialistic narcissist and Jack McFarland was an eccentric, neurotic drama-king. Together, they made the perfect, yet totally stereotypical, gay best friend-rich woman combination. During the series finale of Will & Grace, their musical duet reminded audiences of their deep love for another; both on-screen and off-screen.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]Star Trek: Captain James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock [\/post_page_title]
\nYou gotta love the connection between an emotionless Vulcan Sarek like Mr. Spock and an utterly handsome human, like Captain James T. Kirk. Together, these honorable men run the Starship Enterprise and encounter numerous alien species, dangerous villains, and technical problems. Captain Kirk and his Commander make the ideal, sci-fi pairing not just because of their common desire to protect the universe, but because of the valuable lessons each learns from one another. Mr. Spock, who notoriously struggles with his mixed genetics, learns how to identify emotions and when it is appropriate to tap into them and in return, Captain Kirk learns how to apply logic where it is necessary.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]Boys Meets World: Cory Matthews and Shawn Hunter[\/post_page_title]
\nCory Matthews and Shawn Hunter of Boys Meets World were able to do something most childhood friends struggle with; they were able to remain best buddies into their adult years. This kind of character chemistry doesn’t just prove their devotion to one another, it seals their fate as soulmates without the romantic stigma attached to it. 90’s kids watched Cory and Shawn battle each and every one of life’s curveballs thrown at them, whether it was heartbreak, family deaths, cult abductions, or money problems. Sometimes it’s hard to tell if Topanga or Shawn was really the love of Cory’s life.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]Toy Story: Woody and Buzz Lightyear[\/post_page_title]
\nWoody and Buzz were unlikely friends because of the obvious – they started out as mortal enemies, at least for Woody. They became friends because of two reasons. One, is that they realized the balance they provide each other. Buzz needed a good grip on reality and Woody needed to learn that it’s okay to share control with someone who shares the same goals as you. Two, is because they save each others’ lives (like, a lot). Woody and Buzz transcend the typical children’s film genre and cross into adult territory because of their partnership. That’s makes them a great duo to us.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]Thelma & Louise: Thelma Dickinson and Louise Sawyer [\/post_page_title]
\nThelma and Louise are the perfect feminist icons. This deadly duo, literally speaking, team up for an epic journey that ends in a run from the cops. Thelma and Louise, played by Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis, kill a man after he assaults them in a parking lot and robbed a few convenient stores after they’re mugged on the road. The film is held at the Library of Congress and was nominated for 6 Academy Awards, not surprisingly. The friendship between Sarandon and Davis’ characters is enough to make you want to find your own criminal counterpart.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]Men In Black: Agents J and Agent K[\/post_page_title]
\nWho doesn’t love a pair of secret, special agents monitoring and defeating international alien species in the name of Planet Earth’s protection? That’s right, no one. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones conquered the galaxy (and our hearts) when they starred in the first installment of the Men in Black franchise. Agent K and Agent J made the nueralizer famous, delivered baby aliens on the highway, and eventually time jumped to stop an evil alien species from taking over the planet. These guys deserve a greatest movie duo ever title, if you’re asking us.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]Sherlock: Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson[\/post_page_title]
\nWhere would the world of crime-solving be if it weren’t for Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson? Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman is the perfect pair to bring the Arthur Conan Doyle novels to life, as they’re both seasoned actors and ridiculously talented. On screen, their chemistry is almost distracting from the series’ plotlines and supporting characters but in all honesty, viewers tune in just to see them bicker and kick some serious butt in the name of bromance. You know you’re a part of a great tv duo when you do the characters better than Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]Laverne & Shirley: Laverne DeFazio and Shirley Feeney [\/post_page_title]
\nOpposites attract in the world of Laverne and Shirley. These two female characters started out as small-time characters on Happy Days but thanks to their unbridled connection, they were given their own successful spin-off series. The quirky duo provided one another with skills and character sets that the other didn’t have – Laverne, a tough tomboy, made Shirley confident and less sensitive (sometimes). Shirley was able to bring out the more vulnerable side of Laverne when they were alone. One succeeded where the other failed, and vice versa.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]Starsky & Hutch: Ken Hutchinson and Dave Starsky [\/post_page_title]
\nTake the cliche street-wise cop and the uptight, intellectual partner and you have one of the most famous thriller series of all time. Yes, you guessed it! Starsky and Hutch’s storyline may have been slightly obvious, but that didn’t stop them from becoming the most loved law enforcement partners on television. Starsky and Hutch were first male characters on television to openly embrace one another and pass brotherly love back and forth. At the time, this was unusual and in engaging in unfamiliar body language, they broke the mold of perceived masculinity in the 70’s. Right on!
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]Cheech & Chong: Richard “Cheech” Marin and Tommy Chong [\/post_page_title]
\nCounterculturists, Cheech and Chong, were ultimate stoner duo. They were major advocates of the hippie lifestyle and the free love era, which cemented their status as 60’s and 70’s icons. On screen, Cheech and Chong were all about the laughs. They catered to a specific demographic that otherwise overlooked during a close-minded time period and they knew how to appeal to their audience. While they were once a great duo, today they’re unfortunately separated and have no plans to reunite. So much for peace, love, and unity.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid [\/post_page_title]
\nIt’s okay to idolize the bad guys if it’s for the sake of entertainment, right? Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid was one of the greatest films of basically everyone and their mother’s generation, so we feel the need to give them a special nod. Butch and The Kid traveled together, escaped the law together, and went in a blaze of bullet glory together. The outlaw duo are the complete male version of Bonnie and Clyde, in almost every way. Butch, the obvious leader of the gang, needed his right-hand man through thick and thin. And The Kid was there for him every step of the way.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]The Muppets: Miss Piggy & Kermit[\/post_page_title]
\nWe’re going to ignore the fact that Miss Piggy and Kermit called it quits and pretend it’s 1999 again, if you don’t mind. The truth is, we just refuse to believe they’ve broken up. Regardless of that tiny detail, they’re still the greatest, comedic, puppet pairing we’ll ever get (sorry, Bert and Ernie). Kermit and Miss Peggy were a longstanding testimony that interspecies love does, in fact, exist where it’s welcome. They were called each other out when necessary, knew how to have a good time, and made your kids smile until they fell asleep for the night. No one can resist a glamorous pig and cute frog that are awesome with children.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]Clueless: Cher Horowitz and Dionne Davenport [\/post_page_title]
\nSay it with us now – As if! Cher Horowitz and Dionne Davenport were the popular girls without being mean. They were trendy, stylish, and they tried their hardest to better themselves (key word being tried). They were the best friend duo that wasn’t afraid to befriend and makeover the new girl at school, didn’t let boyfriends come between them, and who could forget their high school hallway conversations on their small, 90’s flip phones? Cher and Dionne are the greatest cult movie duo on our list and we have a feeling they’ll touch the lives of high school girls even decades from now.
\n
\n
\n[post_page_title]Wayne’s World: Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar [\/post_page_title]
\nWhat started out as a Saturday Night Live comedy sketch turned into a hit movie followed up with a sequel. We don’t know as many classic film duos that coined a record-breaking amount of inside jokes and punchlines quite like Wayne and Garth did. They also resurrected Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody for the new generation and taught them how to rock out. Oh, excuse us. We mean, taught them how to party on. Mike Myers and Dana Carvey made an unstoppable pair of grunge rockers and tv show hosts. It’s too bad their show never made a pilot, we’d still watch it today.
