In his final ruling, Judge Levy ordered Tesoriero and his agency to pay Karen 333,000 Australian dollars, or the equivalent of $231,000. The majority of that sum – $132,245 to be exact – was for the various non-economic losses Karen had suffered.
These amounted to the extent her injuries had adversely affected her quality of life and reduced her ability to enjoy them, owing to the pain and suffering brought on by her injury. The remainder had to do with past economic losses, loss of future earning capacity, and medical expenses.
