If you ask us, ‘The Great Mouse Detective’ should have been a far bigger hit than it was. Released in 1986, it received good reviews and had a successful run at the box office. However, its earnings were minor compared to other Disney releases.
It seems that not many kids got behind the company’s take on the adventures of Sherlock Holmes. However, maybe they have a new appreciation for the film now that they’re older. They must do if they’re apparently happy to spend $50 dollars on the VHS version.
