It was in 2017 that ‘Beauty and the Beast’ received its live-action makeover. This new version fared better than most modern counterparts, earning positive reviews and grossing more than $1.2 billion. It also received plenty of award nominations, including two at the 90th Academy Awards.
However, despite the great reception, it still can’t compare to the original animated film. That version is so beloved that people will supposedly pay $17,500 just to own it on VHS, especially as there aren’t many copies of it out there.
