Although animated Disney movies typically run for 90 minutes, ‘Dumbo’ only lasts for about two-thirds of that time. Having only generated around $1.3 million in the U.S., the film is hardly the company’s most successful venture.
However, the lack of ticket sales was primarily due to the events happening in Europe when the movie debuted in 1941. While it might not have sold out theaters back then, ‘Dumbo’ is still one of Disney’s best-known pictures. That explains the reported $14,500 price tag for VHS copies of it.
