Recently, Billy Ray’s stardom has seen a considerable resurgence, after he featured on the Lil Nas song ‘Old Town Road’. Lil Nas had expressed a wish to have Cyrus on a remix of the song, which is ostensibly a fusion of hip-hop and country music.
Cyrus was eager to be involved in the project, claiming to have loved the song, and in April of 2019 the version featuring Cyrus was released. It has since become a breakout hit, topping the Billboard charts and staying there for a record breaking 18 weeks.
