In the summer of 1971, ‘The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour’ started airing, initially with a short run of only 6 episodes. However, the show was a huge success, pulling in enough viewers and critical praise to be renewed for a second season.
The show featured musical numbers and skits featuring Cher, Sonny, and their numerous celebrity guests. The dynamic between the duo, alongside their new, more adult image, worked incredibly well, and ‘The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour’ was a ratings hit for each one of the 4 seasons that it was on air.
