Sonny and Cher also tried to bolster their waning career with forays into film, none of which were very successful. A musical comedy, ‘Good Times’ was released in 1967, featuring Sonny and Cher, and was directed by now-visionary director William Friedkin.
It was, however, a dud at the box office. The 1969 film ‘Chastity’ was written by Sonny, and starred Cher as a young hitchhiking woman. It was a commercial disappointment, heavily criticized for its writing and story. It was also, however, a sign of things to come, as Cher was praised for her acting.
