Founded in 1889, Barnard University was created in response to the fact that Columbia University would not accept women there to study. Located in New York City, the college is a part of the Seven Sisters group, and is one of the oldest universities for women in the world.
Barnard is extremely well-regarded as a liberal arts college, often being ranked among the top colleges in the country. It offers around 50 different courses to study, and has an extremely selective acceptance rate that hovers at around 13%.
